Tokimune was chosen by Akame to serve as Gin's substitute while the leader is away from Ou. When hunters blamed Ou dogs for killing people in the mountains, Tokimune escapes with wounded leg while the other dogs are shot to death.

When Weed arrives in Ou he thinks Tokimune is Gin and calls him father, but Tokimune claims he doesn't know him and that he doesn't have any puppies. However, he sacrifices his life to protect Weed from Kaibutsu. Later Smith tells Weed that the dog who saved him wasn't his father, but a substitute. Weed however mourns over Tokimune's death and says he was a true soldier who bravely gave his life to save an unknown puppy.
