Shouji is one of Chutora's four sons. He lives with his brothers Buru, Dodo, Shigure and his uncle Kurotora in Kofu. He and his brothers go with Kurotora to defend Gajou since Hougen is likely to target this critical battle point advantage. Shouji, Shigure, Buru and Dodo fight through Genba's men hoping atleast one survives to make it to Mutsu to get allies for Weed's pack. Shigure runs into Genba and tries to evade him by pushing snow in his face but it brought down to the ground by Genba. Shouji comes to his aid and attacks Genba, allowing Shigure to escape and make it to Mutsu. Shouji is killed by Genba. His brothers Dodo and Buru are killed by Genba's men. Their bodies are thrown into the river and make their way to Kurotora and the others.
