It was a dark and stormy night in Ellednera. Christmas Eve. The Mist Monarch sat on her throne, wondering what she could do to take over Arendelle. She had long wanted two places to rule, and even more power. Thinking, she stared up through the skylight in the palace. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled. One of the palace maids came in from the hall. "Queen Alania!" she called. "Yes?" replied the Queen. "I have a card from your sister. She wishes you well." said the maid, who was called Ameera. "Bah!" stormed the Mist Monarch as she flung the card into the lit fireplace. Ameera was startled, and took off back to her room. But the Queen had an idea. She summoned a Mistball and transformed it into the face of her nephew, Prince Hans of the Southern Isles. Then, she conjured wisps of mist, and chanted her spell: "Mist, evil Mist, spread far and near. Ignite the evil in the one that I show here!" At once, the misty tendrils swooped off into the night. The Mist Monarch laughed an evil laugh, echoing through the palace.
Far away, in the Southern Isles, Hans was fast asleep. All of a sudden, the mist swooped in through the open window, twirling and tangling itself around the sleeping prince. Finally, after snaring him completely, the mist plunged down to his heart, igniting the tiny little spark of evil, which had shrunk since he came back from the coronation disaster, and his mother, Queen Ashlea, had punished him, saying, "No more lying, son. You musn't do such evil things just for power." Hans awoke, forming a devious plan. "I will kidnap Elsa and rule the kingdom!" he said in his mind. Silently, he got dressed and slipped out of the palace of the Southern Isles.
The next morning, in Arendelle, Anna woke early. It was Christmas Day! She hopped out of bed to set up her present for Elsa. She had been thinking of cutting out and hanging paper snowflakes all around. She quickly made a batch, looped strings through them, and started hanging them up around the palace. Then she slipped back into bed, and fell asleep happily.
When Anna woke up, she quickly went from her bed to her sister's, hoping to wake her. But what she found shocked her. Elsa was gone! Anna quickly changed her clothes, ran out into the hallway, and knocked on a door. A groggy Kristoff answered. "Hi, Anna. What's the matter?" Anna explained that her`sister was missing, and Kristoff raced to the stables in his nightclothes. "Come on, buddy." said Kristoff to his reindeer Sven. "We've got a job to do." Kristoff changed his clothes, hitched the sleigh and harness onto Sven, shouted to Anna, "Get in!" and they raced off.
Elsa was desperate. She was in a cart attached to a horse, running as fast as he could. Suddenly, she knew what to do. She waved her hand, and a trail of magic floated off from the cart. As she kept doing it, the magic grew stronger, and followed her.
Anna and Kristoff raced through the mountain trails. Suddenly, Anna thought she saw something. It was a wisp of snow from up high. It kept moving forward, and grew stronger. Anna had a thought. "Kristoff, do you see that trail of snow?" Anna asked. "Yes." answered Kristoff. "I'm pretty sure that's Elsa's doing. Let's follow it!" said Anna. "All right." replied Kristoff. They followed it.
Soon, they had caught up to the magic. Anna could see a cart, and wintry magic flowing out. Anna gave the signal, and Kristoff threw her onto Sven's back. Anna stretched her body from Sven's back to the edge of the cart. Anna tapped her hands, and felt something. It was Elsa! Elsa stretched out her hand, and Anna dragged her from the cart and into the sleigh. Anna climbed in too. Kristoff turned the sleigh around, and they rode back to Arendelle.
When Hans got back to his kingdom, he looked in the cart and nearly screamed in rage. Elsa was gone. He urged his horse, Sitron, back, and they rode all the way back.
Back in Arendelle, Elsa told them, "I'm pretty sure that was Hans and his horse Sitron. He's probably coming back, so be cautious." Elsa walked out to the tower, which served as a lookout point, telling the guard, "Look out for a dark-haired man with fair skin and a beige horse with a black and gray mane. The horse might be hitched to a cart. If you spot this person coming, tell the other guards to close the gate and bar the doors, as soon as possible." "Anything you wish, m'lady." replied the guard. Elsa went back inside. She spotted the lovely snowflakes, and went to Anna. They hugged.
An hour later, the girls heard a guard shout. Anna rushed to the window. There he was! The guards were hurrying to bar the doors and close the gates. Elsa could see that he was under some kind of spell. She went to the roof, and raising her hands, a chilly wind blew out, swirling around him. She made the wind go deep into his body, finally reaching his heart. The spell stopped. The cool wind had purified him from evil. "Now, Prince!" Elsa shouted. "Go away, and don't come back!" He left, and peace returned. Now they could celebrate. What an exciting morning!
Back in Ellednera, news reached the Mist Monarch that the plan had failed. It was a bright and clear morning, but when the Queen heard, thunder shook the palace. The sky became dark. It began to pour. "Foiled!" yelled the Queen. "I will have to save conquering Arendelle for another day."
The End
