Rusty was old. He was the oldest fox around. He was over 10 years old and, unfortunately for him, the cubs loved him. It was always "Grandad, grandad this!" and "Grandad, grandad that!" Never giving him a rest! One day, he was snoozing behind a dustbin, when-  "Grandad!!" All 27 of his granchildren jumped on him. He groaned. "Grandad! Tell us a story!!" Shouted the oldest one, down his ear. "Yes... ok...ok... how about... the hungry hound?" He said hopefully, this was the shortest story he knew. They all groaned, "You've told us that one a miiiiilion times!" moaned a chubby little cub. "Ok... the fiesty cat that gave me this scar?" He said, lifting his head to display the fleshy scar on his neck. "Ewww! No!" Cried a small cub with a freckle on it's cheek. Rusty chuckled, "Pleeeease grandad, one you've never told us!" Said the eldest. "Ok, then... hmmmm... let me see... ahhh! How about 9/11?" He said looking round at them. A skinny cub got up and walked over to him, "Grandad... erm... there's kinda a 10 between 9 and 11... are you feeling ok?" he said worriedly, "Oh, you're a clever boy aren't you?" Said Rusty putting a paw on his shoulder, "But you're wrong, 9/11 was one of the most famous dates in history, it was a trajic day, and I was there myself...

I was a young fox then, only just an adult. I had been born a country fox, and had wanted adventure, so I moved out here to New York! Becauses I was new in town, there were some big bully foxes who teased me because I was small, but I tried not to let it get to me!

One day I was walking round town, next to two huge identicle human dens. I was walking along... minding my own business when- BAAAAAM!!!! One of those giant birds you sometimes see in the sky went straight into the human den!!! Peices of den and giant bird flew everywhere, and I ran for cover. Next minute two birds swooped down towards me. One was small and yellowish in colour, and the other black with crazy red hair. They screamed at me, "Get out of here, we were perched up there when it happened, and theres another coming- look!" I loooked to the sky just in time to see another giant bird crash into the other den! More bits flew everywhere, this was no coincedence, these human dens, were under attack. Then I heard an almighty crash, I turned and saw a human lying on the floor.

Me and the birds gasped as more people landed, why are they doing this I yelled, the taller bird simply pointed upwards. I looked and saw a fire blazing at the top, "They're trying to escape?" I said with tears running down my cheeks. He nodded solemnly. The humans are just like us in a way, if they are threatened by something, they take the quickest way out. They get out of their dens like we do. Even if it means death. Humans were rushing around. I didn't know what to do. Eventually the birds said, "we only came to sight see, we'd better carry on migrating." And I was left alone, I don't know how long I was there, could have been 5 minutes, could have been a year, could have been 2 hours, I had no idea. All I know is it felt like a milenium.

Suddenly, the ground started to shake, it rumbled and quaked, I thought it was an earthquake, I lept up and started to run, then an earsplitting roar I looked up and squealed in horror, I couldn't move I, I couldn't talk, I couldn't even think, all I could do was watch as the hole building fell down on top of me. Everything went black, dust went up my nose and I died.

I woke up shortly after, I looked around, it wasn't exactly how I had always imagined heaven, a dark cave that stunk of dust and smoke. I coughed and breathed, I realised- I wasn't dead! I howled in joy, but then I realised, I was going to die anyway. I looked around for an opening, I couldn't see one, I sniffed around for fresh air, there wasn't any. I was going to die. Then I remembered a cave in I'd caused as a cub, how me and my family had had to dig ourselves out of the den. I walked over to one side and pushed it, it seemed loose enough, but would it make the hole thing cave in? I tried my luck, walking to the back of the cave, I prepared my self.... then ran at it and rammed into it with my shoulder, I squealed in pain, but it was worth it... I could smell fresh air! There was a narrow tunnel and I squeazed my way threw it.

All of a sudden, the deathly silence was broke by human voices! I wasn't a huge fan of humans, but they were my only hope. I yapped and howled at the top of my voice, then everything went silent. I yapped again and the humans started shouting, I yapped and howled until I had a sore throat, and suddenly the rubble of the den above me started to shift, I could see light, I blinked because it was so bright. A human's paw reached in, and it grabbed me with it's long claw/toe things.

The air was still full of dust, but much more refreshing now I was outside. I breathed in, then collapsed in the human's paws. I woke up later, feeling clean and fresh in a warm blanket in a tiny den that had metal bars round it. There was a bowl of food next to me, I didn't really know what it was but I just ate, I was so hungry.  There was a bowl of water too, it was gone in a flash!

I was soon released back into the city, and I wasn't bullied anymore, everyone thought I was super brave, to survive the great den collapse of 9/11. And thats it really, but life was never quite the same, I think about it sometimes, but I can't changed what happened, you just have to learn to live with it." Finished Rusty with a smile. All 27 of the cubs were staring at him transfixed, then the eldest piped up:, "Again, again!!!" Rusty groaned,"Look kids, it's
