In free translation, Rox means Fox, and if my translator are not wrong, that's it.
And Roucky means hound.
But I'm not sure about the word "Rox".

In English, the name "Todd" means "fox". That is the foundational
origins of the name. "Tod" is Scottish, and has a very similar
meaning: "clever" (or "wily"...and both are also used to describe
foxes). But to answer your question more directly, the movie's title in English has nothing to do with the two main character's names, but rather what they actually are (a fox and a hound). This is drawn from the title of the book the movie was based upon. Whatever the heck they were thinking when it was translated into French is anyone's guess. "Rouky", I believe, is a French word for "hound". But "Rox"? That one is a mystery to me. |
And Roucky means hound.
But I'm not sure about the word "Rox".
