Patch's Great San Francisco                                                      Adventure                    Finale

Patch began to pant heavily. Ashack was still desperately pursuing him. Finally, he had had enough and whirled around to face Ashack. Ashack stopped seeing Patch stop. "What do you want from me?" Patch asked Ashack in a loud and rude tone of voice.

"To talk to you," Ashack said, "and to explain things." Patch's ears twitched, but his face stayed as one of frustration and confusion. "Fine," Patch said rudely, "but I won't forgive you easily."

Ashack sighed. "I killed the leader and Lian because I don't like to be humiliated, yelled at, told what to do, or losing my best friends." Ashack explained, his eyes reflecting regret and sorrow.

"I thought I had rightfully taken the kill. But, when Lian yelled at me, I went crazy. When the pack leader tried to banish me, I lost it and killed him." Ashack continued. Patch's eyes showed sympathy. "Ashack, I-"

Ashack cut him off. "I am very sorry Patch. I know you don't want to hear it, but I truly am sorry. I regret killing Lian and Likolo. I really do." Ashack finished, hanging his head low in shame.

"Ashack," Patch started, "I understand what your trying to explain. But, you had no right to kill Lian and Likolo like that." "I know that," Ashack began, "and I regret it deeply."

Patch smiled and hugged Ashack's leg. Ashack looked down at Patch and smiled.

"Will we ever find him?" Perdita asked, worry showing in her eyes. "Don't worry." Pongo assured her. Nanny was watching the puppies. Anita and Roger were looking too.

"Where could he have gone?" Anita asked. "I don't know, but I am about to give up and leave him be." Roger said, a bit angrily. "You can't do that!" Anita and Perdita said at the same time, but Perdita barked to the humans.

Pongo than picked up a scent. It was the scent of a dalmatian. A puppy. The familiar scent of a familiar puppy. Patch!

Ashack and Patch had found a familiar scent also, and began to follow it. Soon, Patch glanced to the right and saw two humans and two adult dalmatian dogs. "Mom! Dad!" Patch exclaimed excitedly.

"Patch!" Pongo, Perdita, Anita and Roger all said. Patch ran toward them as they ran toward him. Anita grabbed Patch and hugged him tightly. She let him down as Pongo and Perdita nuzzled him.

Ashack watched, happy for Patch. He turned to leave until Patch called him. "Ashack!" Ashack turned and Patch ran up to him. "Why don't you stay here with us?" he asked.

Ashack chuckled and said, "No. I must stay in the wild. This is my home." Patch frowned and said, "No. Home is where you are. As long as your with friends and family." Ashack smiled.

"I am sorry, Patch, but your humans would not  accept me for I am a wild animal." Pongo and Perdita walked up to Ashack. "Did you help Patch find his way home?" Pongo asked.

"Yes!" Patch answered for Ashack, "he did. And we are best friends!" Patch smiled and turned to Ashack. Ashack smiled and said, "It was nice meeting you, but I must leave now and go to the den I lived in."

"Goodbye, Ashack." Perdita said politely. "Bye Ashack." Patch said sadly. Ashack smiled sadly at the three of them and said, "Goodbye. I will miss you all." With that, Ashack ran off in the woods.

Pongo and Perdita walked back to Anita and Roger, waiting for Patch. Patch watched Ashack until he was out of sight. Patch turned and walked home with the others.

"Patch! It is so good to see you again!" "Hey, buddy!" "Welcome home!" All of Patch's brothers and sisters greeted him with hellos and hugs. "It is good to be home." Patch said happily.

Pongo, Perdita, Anita, Roger, Nanny and all the puppies played the Dalmatian Plantation song as a celebration.

Ashack returned to his den and layed down. Questions ran like a river through his mind. Was it wise to leave? Can he make it without Patch? Can Patch makeit without him?

Ashack stood up and decided to go visit him. He followed their scents. They were faint, but his nose could still read them. He followed them to a big apartment house.

Ashack was lucky that no humans were around right now. He walked in very quietly and scratched at each door. None of them opened. He got to the top and scratched the last door. It opened!

Nanny opened the door. She was terrified. There, in the hallway, in the apartment, stood a wolf. She screamed. "A wolf! A wolf!"

Patch heard the word 'wolf'. He ran to the door. Could it be? He got to the door and gasped. It was! "Ashack!"

"Hey Patch." Ashack greeted him. Patch hugged Ashack's leg. "Why are you here?" "To visit you." Ashack answered. Patch smiled. "I also have decided to ask you if you would like to come and stay with me in my den."

Patch's smile vanished. As much as he would like to, his family was here. In an apartment. "Sorry, Ashack, but my home is here." Ashack's smile vanished. "Oh, alright." He sadly turned around.

Patch watched Ashack leave. He would like to stay with Ashack, but his home was here. With Pongo, Perdita, Anita, Roger, the Nanny, and his brothers and sisters.

Life couldn't be better at home.

Yay! Patch made it home. How exciting!
