Lets start off with one thing right not this is going to be an Intellectual conversation about Fur. So please no Flaming, we dont need comments where all you say is stuff like:
"I hate those people that skin animals I hope they all burn "
This is a topic to aquire a better understanding of what the fur industry is about and how some aspects of it are wrong.
Don't be the one to not read this post and just jump in and start flaming
I'll start by saying that in Asia there are no animal cruelty laws so they can do what ever they want to animals. But often the animals are skinned alive.
This is really sick and wrong, and yet there is no real point for it. We dont need fur anymore we no longer need it to keep us warm we have new fabrics that keep us warm.
Yet they could use a more humane way to get the fur, just by killing them frist, injection of something that would cause a painless death would work.

Yes, it is sick and wrong, but I also don't think they should be killing the animals in the first place anyway. If it's a sick, dying cow/deer/whatever, then they could skin it once it's dead.
I agree with you on the fabric thing; we have ginormous, thick blankets, and even fake fur, so why do they need real ones? -Shrugs- Oh well; I suppose it's part of their religion, but it's still disgusting.

Yes I can see using animals when they have died. Well scince they use cat and dog fur that they killed, then why dont they use the fur from the cats and dogs we have to kill?
I mean something in the 10,000 mark are killed a year and with only a small amount going to collages for disection then why not use the fur from the rest.

Well, there are places were they still need fur but, I still think it's wrong if they skin them ALIVE. I beleive that killing them first would be the only humane way to skin them...

Although i'm not sure if people in China do.....At least back then we Native Americans used all the parts of a dead animal. Example when white settlers came they only killed the buffalo for fur. They became very near to extinction. Also killed for sport.
You are right Meeko,When settlers did come they killed for fur to make a profit out of it by selling it to others. But what really makes me mad is the fact that they still do it today for sport and to gain profit from it.

I use real leather and buckskin for projects when fake leather is not strong enough for the job. apart from that, all the furs I use in my projects are synthetic. there is no need to kill an animal only for fur when fake fur works just as well and is cheaper.

I don't see the point of wearing real fur when fake fur keeps you looking just as nice and keeps you just as warm. Why should an animal have to suffer when the material can be made artificially?

I pretty much hate fashion these days anyway. I look at all of the chavvy/tarty girls at school and think.. did they look in the mirror this morning?

But I do like leather. Most times it's Cow so the rest of the animal is used, and the cows are cared for well. Also Bulls are used for high quality leather.

Well, according to PETA, what is done in the US is giving the animals an electric shock to... certain parts on the opposite side of the body from the head, which gives them a heart attack... it's sick, but I am morally opposed to real fur gotten in any way, shape, or form. If we can make artificial fur, then that's what should be used.
