This is probably the first political rant on this board, and I will warn some members that these comments do make fun of George Dubbah Bush Sr, and Jr., as well as some of the former presidents and the United States. (I'm Canadian, so I have a Canadian point of view. Feel free to put an American view down if you wish. Plus, I like the US anyway. I just wanted to get my opinion out there to get a discussion going.)

Okay, here we go...


Now, most of you should be aware of the events of September 11, 2001. That day is a sad one, and that also started the War on terrorism. Now, I will admit, I was all for the Americans and Canadians going after that Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Douchebag, but once Saddam was captured, it occurred to me that even if they sent more forces in, it'd be like a Where's Waldo game when they tried to locate Osama. They were in a country where there were hundred, maybe even thousands, of hiding places where he could take shelter.

Now, fast forward to 2006. I'm in college, and I still see no end to this War of Terrorism. Personally, I think they haven't accomplished anything major since the capture of Hussein. (Aside from some more minor victories like getting the UN involved.) But, it seems to me that we wouldn't have this peopblem if George Bush Sr. hadn't meddled with destiny.

Rewind to the Gulf War. CIA agents trains Saddam Hissein and the Taliban in fighting techniques to defend against the enemy (forgot who they were. Gotta look it up.) Only ten or so years later, they crash a plane into The World Trade Centre.

It seems that every president since the second world war has been trying to clean up after their predicesor in an attempt to cover things up or make everything peaceful again.

Sorry to say this, but it hasn't worked yet.

If you want to stop the chain, just pull the troops out of Afganistan and Iraq and let those people settle this war by themselves.

Sheesh.

Well we trained them to help resolve a fight. We can't help it if they turned on us. But I think we should pull out but we have liberated Iraq and given the people there a life worth living.

And anyway this is one of many political posts that have been on BSource, just the frist to not have someone ranting about one party.

This rant was presented really well. I would have to agree that the war does not make any sense...but then I am also a Canadian with a Canadian point of view.

I guess I would like to take the opportunity to add in a rant about freedom of speech. Supposedly the United States is supposed to be a country where the people are given the right to freedom of speech. Well, if the American people are given that freedom of speech, then why is it that the Dixie Chicks got into so much trouble for the satement they made about George Bush? It is supposed to be their right to express that opinion. It just seems that it is only freedom of speech if you agree with the government.

I tell you, if someone like Avril Lavigne made a statement that Steven Harper made a crappy Prime Minister, we as Canadians would be like "whatever, isn't there a hockey game on tonight?" It just would not matter. But that is because we actually have freedom of speech where we can say whatever we want without the consequences that Americans seem to face.

yeah, but let's not fgorget that the Americans are losing just as many lives as our army is dude.

As I had said before, all we're doing is sending in more targets for the enemy to fire at. We're not gaining much, if any, ground with this war.

By pulling out, we a) stop the lose of life in our armies, b) let the civil war solve itself and c) make that moron Osama Bin Laden come out of hiding and into the spotlight again. Then we can swoop in, get him and be done with this war forever!

why is it that the simplest ideas fall on people who aren't in the forefront?

No offense to other Americans,I'm an American myself,but that doesn't mean I have to like every American.

You can say what ever you like, but you will have to live with the consequences.

You all need to realize, terrorism cannot be stopped, no matter the actions taken.

Fellow Canadian here to speek.This is my personal feelings right now.

Personally I think Bush and his whole goverment are a bunch of idiots.I'm not saying that about only the American government the Canadian ones not to good either.Lets face it, every person in goverment only gives a care about the money they get.

About this 'war'.I thought it was'nt even war at all.Like you said they just had to get in,get the morons they came in to get and get out.I say pull out.They're only bombing beacause they want us out.When we leave the bombing stops,and Osma comes out.He can't stay in hiding forever and with the US and Canadian armies there its gonna be a long time till he comes out.

Besides there is many other issues in the world to care about right now.

Some how you missed the point, the people we came in for where hard to find. This is war not hide-and-seek. It takes alot of time to find what we want to find. The War on Terror is the war we are in now and that means we have a whole long list of people to get so it'll take some time.

Pulling out may be good however it may be really bad, you may know that terrorist also kill Iraqi people that are not in the armed forces.

God, it's like you read my mind. The Internets, the Google...need I say any more? This guy invents words because he can't use a thesaurus lol. No no, I jest. I do agree that Bush is about as good of a leader as any (pfft, that's a compliment), but let's be honest here. I personally feel afraid that the little red button that controls all of American's nuclear arms is in the hands of a man who has an IQ lower than Peter Griffin's on Family Guy. Sorry if I offended any Americans, but I stand by my opinions. I will not try and recant anything.
