What does your dog think to Bonfire Night / Fireworks?

Well, both Archie and my dad's dog HATE fireworks. They are absolutely terrified. Call me a spoil-sport but I think fireworks should be banned. Or at least only held by professional displays. People let them off from as early as 5pm to as late as 2am round where I live. This happens from about 1st November till the 12th.

Archie will follow me around the house whining and shivering all over and when I go to bed he'll leap on the bed and curl up into a little ball, still shivering whilst my dad's dog will do anything to get out of the house. They both have hiding places set up for them and I try to distract them with games - we even bought one of those therapy cds - none of them can get over fireworks. Other loud bangs are fine. It's just fireworks.

Any advice? What are your dogs like?

My dogs are fine. o_o I don't think it should be banned just because of some dogs don't like it. My dogs are fine with it. ^^ I love the fireworks, and my animals don't really care about it. They don't whin, bark, or hide. They just watch it, or just listen to it. ...

Well, I guess your dogs are in the minority then. I once read that a dog jumped through a glass window in attempt to escape the noise. The RSPCA has several campaigns concerning fireworks;

My beagle doesn't really mind fireworks,But my new pupy HATES them.We lit up 2 boxes of fireworks one the 4th of July and he was whineing and crying because we were in our neighbors yard with out neighbor lighting fireworks.I had to bring him up with us so he wouldn't cry :lol:

Most of the dogs I know are scared of fireworks.

I think the worst case I've been involved in was when Barney (dad's dog) ran away when we let him out to go to the toilet. He bolted out of the garden and ran off through the village. We got him back but we were so scared that he'd be hit by a car or something.

Last year, both Archie and Barney decided that they'd curl up together in the shower XP
