.. Dressing dogs up // Using them as 'accessories'?
By dressing them up, I mean painting their claws, giving them little outfits e.t.c.
And by using them as 'accessories' I mean like how models use them. By carrying them around with the designer collar and leash and the matching outfit.
I'm not so fussed about the 'accessory' so long as they are given time to romp about and chill out - like on a programme I watched about one model's dogs. But if they are constantly carried around and used purely as an accessory then I do not agree with it.
As for dressing dogs up and painting their claws - if you are not a professional model - I certainly do not agree. I had a friend in the year below me at school who used her chichiaua (sp?) as a pure accessory. It was never allowed to even touch the ground. It was used as a 'Barbie doll'. Pure thing.. but fortunatly, she has seen the error of her ways and now the little dog is treated as a Dog.
What do you think?

Personally, I can't stand people that don't accept animals as what they are. Not to mention all the diseases some animals could get from dyeing hair or constantly cleaning the fur... or even problems that occur then with their behavioral pattern.
Just recently I saw a cat with pink dyed hair trying to catch mice without success, all over again, simply because the mice did see her in the cover. It must be a real torture for an animal still practicing a predatory life.

Personally, i dont like the idea of dresses, tuxes, and shirts. But capes and snow shoes are ok though... but anything else that has to be worn all the way around, NO!

If you respect an animal you do not treat them like a model or a baby or an object, it's disrespectful to treat them anything else than animal (Unless you are abusing them). Let animals live by nature. If a person can see how they misunderstand animals, then I am happy for them. I am annoyned by disrespect of animals.

Ugh, no, I despise that. However, I don't mind it when people put on raincoats (to protect the dog/cat from the rain/snow), or atleast a little Halloween costume for Halloween. But that's really it. Putting shoes on them (like Paris Hilton's Tinkerbell), putting perfume on them and all that jazz, just really gets on my nerves.

Exactly, most people don't realize that and fall into those behaviors (Babying, dressing them up), they see it as "their baby" not a bueatiful work of nature... trust me I know the exact feeling your'e talking about.

Thank you. Someone who truly loves their dog would not play dress-up with them. If someone truly loves their dog, they would see them as a work of art made by nature, like you said, or something made in God's own image, maybe, or something to that effect. Those who dress up their dogs, well, that kind of "love" that those people have... it kind of seems a little artificial.

It's what they think is right (I know it sounds insenstive to us) but I'm giving both sides.
