i personally don't know. The animators wanted to make him look like him thugh. I thnk Zira probally had him with a dark lion similar to scar.

Scar raised Kovu like a son,that's why Kovu told Kiara....quote:he wasn't my father,but he was still a part of me.

Hmm...good point xD. Taka(Scar) wasn't Kovu's father...so I don't know...they both looked exactly the same when grown up and Zira gave Kovu the 'scar'. That IS weird.....

I am sure they made him look like Scar just because so he would look "Dark", and be more of a outcast and I don't think Kovu looked so much like Scar when he grew older.

In lion society, mating with a cousin would just be normal, as only about one or eventually a second male (yes, unbelievable but true - they build coalitions sometimes) stay in a pride. The only factor avoiding inbreeding is if the male gets killed in a territorial fight.

Oh, the movies follow in mostly the natural facts. Otherwise you'd have to explain me why Mufasa is the only adult male of pride rock, and why only the lionesses do hunt. Even the fact that Scar tries to kill Simba when taking over the pride shows how reality-like the movie's intended to be.
