Everyone knows what's happening to the Earth. The O-Zone continues to get smaller and soon, there will be no filtering of the Ultra-Violet Radiation. If that happens, we will be living very difficult lives. As for the Polar Shelf and the Ice Caps....they melt on as well. What's everyone's thought on this?

My thought? It's called ozone. Ozone has nothing to do with a "zone", it's a gas with triatomic molecules, consisting of 3 oxygen atoms.

You can use context clues to figure out the it's the O-Zone Layer. *sigh*

It's bunk. Lies spread by alarmists. The earth is far more powerful than that...and despite the damage we (as a species) have done to it, it would take a LOT more than just what we've done to bring planet-wide devastation.
Come on, gang! Logic!

I agree. (I wasn't about to say that stuff myself, though. ><) But COME ON! The world isn't just gonna be inhabitable. Last year when the US was devastated by huricans eveyone was like "Oh no!! It's gonna be even worse this year!!" Pff. We haven't been hit once. Mexico has, but not the US. I hate it when people are like "The end is near!!"

You know what this could be because? Sunspots on the sun, the more there are the hotter we get. The less there are like in the little Ice age that hit Europe in 1600's-1700's the cooler we get. It's just another thing that could be heping with Global warming.

We are not the sole responsibility for global warming. Think of what happened thousands of years ago...does the ice age ring a bell? We're coming out of an ice age, and what does that do for the temperatures? It gets hotter. Now, we may have helped add alittle speed to it, but we're not completely responsible.
Like Seppala said, think use logic

Actually wrong. What you're referring to are worst-case scenarios. Such scenarios serve us to be prepared on less severe disasters.
However, we did do by far more to our planet than just reducing the ozone-layer. The immense emission of greenhouse gases and particles did lead to a massive warming of our atmosphere, while the global dimming effect hides the true heating caused by our oil-resources-wasting lifestyle (which has been proven the few days after 9-11, when the air traffic has been stopped).
By this immense warming (which happens in addition to the natural warming cycle of our planet) we'll more and more slow down the gulfstream, which leads to the paradoxum that global warming generates a new ice age in dense inhabited areas of todays world. Additionally, the warming causes the polar ice caps to melt away, which will lead to the flooding of todays coasts at the oceans and, even worse, set free natural resources of methane, which again accelerates the warming.
In the time between 50 and 100 years more, meteorologists assume the lands south of the equator to be uninhabitable for mankind, because it simply gets too hot down there, without enough water and rain - as the rain follows different routes than before (for which we already got first signs in regions like Ethiopia in the 90ies, same as we have more storms and flooding desasters in areas that were considered relatively safe before [fe: Germany, Austria and Switzerland]).
It's not about IF earth and nature can handle it. They can handle it, without any problems - as such ecodisasters already happened several times in earths history. But it will bring a collapse to human population.
Considering the fact that we're already overpopulated today, and that human population still is growing, there isn't much we could do about it. Modern people can't survive in the wild anymore - we need energy to survive, like for having a warm home, earning our meals, moving from city A to city B... and so on. That we can transport and use said energy, we need to transform it somehow. And that process always causes emissions and additional warming, and that again doesn't help our situation.
If we'd want to seriously change something today, then we'd need to kill off at least 3/4 of the entire human population and make sure that nobody ever again uses any of our heating systems and vehicles. Only then we'd have a significant result keeping our current climate a bit more stable. But since that's VERY unlikely ever to happen, the only option we have is to prepare on the collapse of climate.

That's very eloquently-worded. However, there is one thing that is missing. The conclusive, irrefutable evidence. NO one denies that the environment of the planet goes through changes. And sometimes those changes are influenced by other factors. But to state that humanity alone, with its short-sightedness, has doomed the planet (or, more accurately, doomed the current ecosystem), without providing the conclusive, irrefutable evidence, is no more helpful than the author of the thread saying, gloomily (and in so many words), "the end times are coming!"

Humans overestimate their worth on this planet and underestimate their effect. Humans burn tons and tons of C02. CO2 that should be absorbed by plants, but cant because we keep cutting them down to make room for our new cities. We spew chemicals into rivers, spay aerosols into the air and they aren't getting absorbed. I truely hope there is a climate shift or the oil runs out or something, because if not the entire human race dies the stupid ones who need gallons of gass a day will be the first to go.
