This is definetly gonna get locked but I'm dying to spread my opinion. Art theft is getting out of hand! I was looking through some contests and it said if you use the same pose as aonther person's that's considered art theft! That is just ridiculous! I just think people are tryng to suck up to all those big and fancy people who are the head complainers! Mods feel free to lock this, I just want to get my point out.

PS It's pretty strange of me to complain

No, that's not ridiculous. If you use someone's pose without their permission, that IS art theft. When people started stealing art, we asstablished that stealing a pose is indeed art theft.

Sorry to interrupt, but rolling your eyes isn't very nice, even if you are frusturated. And, I agree with tibb_wolf, stealing a pose is indeed art theft because you use the form and design of that other person's character, and all you do by taking the pose, is adding your character to that one, which is stealing and making adjustments.

*hugs* I'm sorry. Just not in a good mood right now. ><

Ok.. Umm. If it's a very simple pose like standing or laying down or something simple that anyone could have thought of, then no. But something more complex is.

Such as this http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/39173368/ I'm not sure if it would be considered "complex", but thats what I see it as.

I've seen many an obvious pose theft, mostly stolen from artists like Kay Fedewa and Goldenwolf over and over by different people. Some poses, however, get called as theft when they shouldn't. Seriously, if you've drawn a certain pose, someone else has no doubt come up with the same thing before you. It all depends, really.

I agree with Kavsie. It all depends on the pose and how many times it's been used. I personally don't think you can copywrite a pose just because you drew your charcter that way. It's silly^^ It's like copywriting a facial expression.

Some poses, however are one of a kind, and yes, using that would be, in some form, art theft. Of course, one must be knowledgable of their fellow fanartists to know that. And if they're not, is it really their fault if their pose is similar or even exact to another persons?

I know... But I mean, there's over 6 billion people in the world, they all can't have a different style of drawing!
