Yeah, today I've visited Alinghi's (the Swiss "America's Cupper" syndicate, defender of the 32nd America's Cup) mobile exposition, which currently tours through Switzerland, in Zurich. Since I myself go to sailing races, also enjoy to have my holidays on a sailing boat and personally know a crew member of Alinghi (because he's a member of our yacht club) this was something I almost couldn't wait for.
What they presented to the visitors was primarily the hull of SUI 75, Alinghi's training boat during the last Luis Vuitton / America's Cup events, commented by Enrico DeMaria (which is the crew member I mentioned before, he's grinder on the boat) and Jochen Schümann (helmsman). Then there also were the used sails, which the visitors of the exposition could sign 'to wish them luck' for defending the Cup in Valencia. Another funny part is the grinding simulator, in which you have to set sails under similar conditions like real grinders experience them... heh... it was funny how exhausted the people were after setting only one sail, whereas the grinders have to do that through the entire race.
Oh, and here two shots I did of SUI 75:
Are there any other sailing fanatics among you people around here?
