Well, for myself, I like Balto (the character) for the following reasons:
1. In the first movie, it was nice to see the underdog (no pun intended) overcome adversity, face down bullies (something I can connect with from my days as a kid), become a hero (out of being a practical outcast and nothing) and get the girl.
2. In the second and third movies, I was impressed and humbled by his gentle kindness, his wisdom and his sense of humor. And I believe that Maurice LaMarche, who voiced him in the sequels, did a great job of projecting those qualities in Balto's voice...as an older, wiser, more-seasoned and gradually more-confident Balto.
3. I've often fantasized about how awesome it would be to actually enter that cartoon world and meet Balto, and the others! Balto was portrayed so well in ALL THREE cartoons, that he seemed almost REAL. The portrayals moved me in a very profound way.

Did I misinterpret the original post wrong? I thought the author was asking what we liked about the Balto character. The response from the author, in his/her post, seemed to indicate that he/she was telling what he/she liked about Balto himself (the cartoon character).
(Incidentally, sorry for all the "he/she" notes...there are so many members who don't indicate whether they're male or female, and use neutral member names and avatars, that the matter is so ambiguous that one is left to guessing. )

I like the movie Balto because it was based on a true story and gives a good name to dogs and wolves.
And, I think that I am like Balto because I'm pretty laid back but determined. And I just want to be loved.

The main reason I liked Balto is that his personality was more like mine and also being treated in another way just for being different from the others.

I like it because it personally gives me hope. I'm not accpeted at my school because I'm...well...me. I get turned down for a lot of clubs and such and all the popular kids love tossing stuff at me. Just to hear a smiliar story (even if it's not all true) is just uplifting because maybe, when I'm a country star performing at Grand Olr Opry, I can look back and say, Wow, this movie inspired me so much...

I like Balto (the movie) because it's about animals, beautiful animation, and a pretty good storyline.

Many reasons, but I have to say I like both the movie and the real Balto, I like the movie because it has great animation, it has k9s in it, and because I like the way it was made then I felt a little related to Balto on that being thing.

Hmmmm...
I like Balto because he's adorable, sweet, shy, corageous, brave...
And I'm like him in many ways. I get bullied alot for various reasons...I used to get bullied because I was born in England. Scottish schools are tough!
Also because I care deeply for my friends, and I show it as much as I can. Even if they don't show it towards me
And I'm also very shy ^^
