But this is no Balto 4.

Non-Disney Brer Rabbit Movie hopping direct-to-video

Song of the South.net reveals that Universal Cartoon Studios is producing a direct-to-video animated film based on the animal characters of Uncle Remus, including Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear, and Brer Wolf. If this title is well received it should make it easier for Disney to release their Song of the South to DVD in America and lessen undue accusations of racism that have been levelled at the movie.

Err...what is Brer Rabbit? :? Strange to see that a Disney license goes to Universal, though...

Hey the person that wrote That bopok was from Georgia!! wow so I guess there was a small purpose for learing Georgia History. Any way I've heard of Brer Rabbit, he's the Sly tricky rabbit always tricking Brer Wolf and Brer Bear.

I remember liking this movie as a child. I wish they would just release it and let anyone who has a problem with it get over themselves.

But as for remake...as much as I like Wayne Brady, I don't have high hopes for it. With all the problems of the original, a remake is going to be overly politically correct and 'safe'. And to me, safe=boring.

Well, all these "politically correct" problems are probably the reason they never made more films in this franchise, and that it is not really known...
Knowing Universal, yes, they won't do anything that could bring them problems like this.

Wow! I remember Brer Rabbit from when I was little! I don't remember much of the story except Brer Rabbit was a crafty character who always tricked Brer Wolf.

Lol, I really don't remember that much about it except that, at the time, my mum really didn't like me watching it, I read the books a lot though.....although I thought Brer Rabbit belonged to Disney... =/

Anyway, a review on the movie > http://filmfanatic.org/reviews/?p=4075

Aww, that's the version I remember XD
