I was just thinking about how Balto was based on a true story but then I thought about the 2 and 3 movies and wonderd if they were true. Could they be?

Ah. I don't think so. They are just pure imagination, but still good.

Yeah, I agree with Tibby. I think they were made just to see what kind of legacy Balto could have had. Although, in the first movie, I don't think Jenna was based on the true story, just the saving Nome with the medicine part.

i doubt that.
2nd movie couldn't be true, coz Balto's daughter looks like a wolf, however real Balto was a husky.
3rd movie is partly based on 2nd, so it is made up.

The story from Wings of change could have been true, and it may be based on real facts for some things (such as the buildings, the town of White mountain, Duke's plane...)
Although of course, there's nothing true in Wolf quest.

Nope, and for many reasons.. Balto couldn't had puppies, because he was fixed at a very young age.
And his mother was not a white wolf, he didn't go to any wolf pack, have a run away daughter that looks like a wolf or any puppies since he was fixed.

Part 3? No, come on.. A plane would so beat the dogs but yeah, maybe could be true on some things..

Questions like these are the reason why I was afraid to see the sequels

Well, Balto 2 was pure fantasy. However, while Balto 3 was a fictional story, the elements of it (the use of WWI-era biplanes to run supplies and mail) has historical precedence...as does the use of dog sled teams to do the same. And that, in time, bush planes eventually mostly replaced dog sled teams as the primary means of running supplies and mail...except in the colder months. That is because the engines on those old planes were water-cooled, and so couldn't run in very cold weather. Additionally, they were usually dismantled in the cold months.

However, it is practically impossible that any dog sled team could defeat a bush plane in a race. That was another fantasy. Any responsible bush pilot wouldn't fly given the weather conditions. It was probably still too early in the year to safely run a bush plane in that area.

Yeah, but you could also have said they had a type of "Home field" advantage on their side.

Perhaps...in cartoon terms. But a real bush pilot would have known the route, and also the best times to fly weather-wise.

In fact, Duke's plane crashed because of weather. And while Duke is a really cool character, he'd make a danged irresponsible bush pilot in the real world!

I actually I pray to God Wolf Quest isn't based off a real story.

The events in neither of the sequels actually happened to Balto (nor was the real Balto involved in anything like them). While the events of the third cartoon are historically plausible (meaning they could have happened at any time, in any part of Alaska, to any dogs and humans), it is still very, VERY unlikely that a real bush pilot would have taken the kinds of risks that Duke took. Or, allowing for better weather conditions, that a dog sled team would have stood a chance against a bush plane in a race.

However, as the third movie implied (correctly), it was only a matter of time before bush planes all but replaced dog sled teams for running mail and supplies back and forth over the Alaskan bush...except in the colder months, when dog (and even reindeer) sled teams were the only means of transport into remote areas.

thats pretty much what i said.....it most likely didn't happen but the third could have happened....

Well, it's not a problem, but I interpreted your first post to mean that the events in the third movie could have actually happened to Balto and the others. What I was saying was that they could not have, given the real history, but that the events could have happened to any other dog or human at that time, technically.
