Mediocre power metal band.

They have undeniable talent (The musicians anyway, the vocalists performance and song writing ability is pretty weak and repetitious) but they are stuck in a tenuous cycle of over-the-top guitar duels and samey song timings. Though having plenty of flair these songs are so similar you can hardly tell when the cd has gone to the next track.

I LIKE over the top guitar duels. That's why they're good. And no, they don't sound the same. The sound similar, however, that's no big shock, they are one band. They totally rock; I've never heard anything even close to the talent that they have. My face melted when they hit me with those guitar solos. As to the vocals, he's got a great voice, and hits notes that all the dime a dozen pop stars out there wish they could hit. A sweet band, with sweet music. Rock on!

If you haven't heard anything close to their level of talent you need to broaden your horizons, Sunshine. And of course popstars wish they could reach such high notes, they're popstars, not musicians.

I don't particularly care for your tone of voice. Don't call me condescending names, and don't insult my taste in music. Last I knew, we were calmly discussing a band. It's fine if you don't like them, but there's no need to insinuate that my "horizons" aren't "broad". I listen to all types of music; I think they are sufficiently broad.

Than perhaps you consider venturing a little further over the metal horizon past DF. I know a bit about metal in general and trust me when I say there is plenty better than Dragon Force. Take no hint of hostility, it's a friendly suggestion.

Dude, I've been listening to metal since I was 3 years old. In my 21 years on earth, I've heard and seen quite a bit. What would you like me to listen to? The power metal of Helloween? The death metal stylings of Morbid Angel? The speed metal of Metallica or Slayer? The modern style metal of Hatebreed or Cataract? The grindcore metal of Cannibal Corpse?

You realize, just because I enjoy Dragonforce doesn't mean that I'm somehow not a metal fan. And it certainly doesn't mean that you're more hardcore or something than I am. Let it go, I like Dragonforce.

Actually, they aren't half bad. I love the drummer's playing style and some of their material reminds of the faster stuff Metallica has put out in past records.. good stuff!

and the honest truth is that most Dream Theater fans think they suck, but I strongly disagree with that fact just because of the INCREDIBLE musicianship they display... I have listened to all sorts of Metal for almost 20 years and currently play in a metal band as well. so I know good metal from the bad and ugly!

Power Metal of Mordred or Symphony X, Death Metal of Opeth/Novembers doom/Zyklon, Thrash of Nevermore, The closest thing to metalcore/Hardcore is Mastodon and I more or less ignore Grindcore unless it's for lulz, in which case it is Cock And Ball Torture.

I'm not into to metal for the 'hardcore' of it, I'm in it for the music.

Agree to disagree then, I've listened to enough DF to dismiss it as dull.

I love how people mistake fast guitar playing for actual skill. You can be the fastest player in the world and still have crappy riffs and solos.

HERE is some guitar playing.

(note on that last one how the riffs are SIMPLE, but pack a punch)

Dragonforce isn't really my type of music, but I do have to admit that the guitar player is insanely good. D:
I've only heard "Through the Fire and the Flames" and "My Spirit Will Go On". I don't like the lyrics as much as I like the guitar.

Also makes my fingers cramp on Guitar Hero.
