Well, about two or three years ago I had tubes put in my ears to help me hear better. Now they have done thier jobs and I have to have surgery to get them out. Dang, I wish the could have fallen out like normal. O well im not normal. Anyways, when I had to put them i was kicking and fighting with the nurses to put me to sleep. yes i no, stupid, but i dont want that to happen. So, I came to advice from my friends at BS. Cause non of my off-site-friends know yet. Lol, So i dont wanna be scared. *Yes I know eventually the topic will be locked. But I need some advice first please. * Im kinda scared cause im going in for surgerey monday. Thanks a whole bunch.
Whitewolf.

Oh dear, that does'nt sound pleasant WW-WSP, I think it'd be best to just try holding back your fears for now, if it's time for them to come out then it's probably best to do as the doctors say, I know it's scary, I'd probably be freaking out already, but you should let them remove them, I'll be praying for ya.

Best advice would be to not kick and scream at the nurses as they just want to get on with their job to make you better, and it will make life easier and less painfull. If you try to get over your fear of it, you feel more better afterwords.

Aw, shouldn't be too bad. My sister had to have tubes in four times :3 And three times they were taken out surgically (sp?) She's 12 now x3 Don't worry, she said it doesn't hurt cause you're sleeping, but when she was getting the, whatever it was, so that she'd sleep, that was the only part that scared her. I don't know if you want me to tell you why though it did, it might scare ya.
But don't worry, you'll get through it safely :3 My sister had one fall out and the other had to be removed xD

well it would be better if you just let the nurses do what they have to do i know it has to hurt but the more you kick and scream the later the seregery wont be done

Well, if you want my advice...
I'm just going to go along with what Loz and Whitewolf said. It's best to try and forget your fears and try it anyway. There are lots of things that I'm scared of (for example, I hate heights) and I jumped off a cliff while on vacation last week. I know, I'm off topic. My point is that you should just try and face your fear. Being scared just makes it worse and harder to handle.

I had the same problem when I was younger. Once, I had the courage to mention it to a prep nurse, who asked me to wait a moment. She came back with the anesthesiologist (who handles the drugs for the surgery). I explained my problem and my fears, and he assured me that it'd be cool. He also said he could give me something to relax me before surgery. He was very friendly. He put a relaxant into the I.V., and soon, when they wheeled me into the O.R., I was greeted by the nurses and assistants. And then the doctor himself came in. He greeted me, we talked for a moment about the surgery and, before I even knew it, I was out. I didn't even remember passing out, or the feeling of trying to fight it as I had in the past! The next thing I knew, I was waking up in the recovery room...and it was the most relaxing and pleasant awakening from anesthesia I ever had!
When you go, talk to the nurses...and the anesthesiologist...or the surgeon. You have a right to express your concerns...it's a patient right. And they probably would be willing to help you.
