i mean balto or togo

Well, when you put it down to simple popularity from a layman's perspective, I'd say Balto. He was feted and lionized by the press corps at the end of the Great Serum Run, and for years thereafter. And there have been three cartoons made about him.

But Togo's not an unknown element anymore. While his fame may never surpass Balto's (because of the way he was popularized by press coverage), Togo's not forgotten either. And if you ask any musher, or any Siberian Husky or Seppala Sled Dog breeder, they'll know right away who you're talking about when you mention the name Togo. That's very promising!

Basically what BaltoSeppala said and Dusty10 please edit your posts instead of double posting.

I've accually never heard of Togo up until I joined this forum. Pretty interesting. Guess that kinda points out my answer over who's more popular.

Let's see, I think Balto as more fame than Togo. Balto was the one who brought in the medicine you know

Balto is more well known no doubt about that. Seppala wasn't very pleased to say the least. In a statement though he anounced that he was upset that Togo didn't get much recognition as he went much farther than Balto did. But in the same remark he did say that he didn't want to take away any credit from the other mushers involved in the run and he congradulated Kaasen and Balto.

The reason Baltos more popular is for one fact, he was considered a dog taht could only deliver slow transport goods, but he proved everyone wrong. And do not forget that storm grew worse when balto took the medicine, as I have heard from a few sources (apologies if this is not true.)

to be honest, i am not quite sure what Togo did ,so i'll say Balto.

Balto has 3 MOVIES made about him, he has hundreds of fan sites *Balto Souce*, there are a lot of pics and statues of REAL Balto, and finally......HE is known as the one that saved Nome.

and what's about Togo?
There are pics and statues of REAL Togo, the majority of the people who know about him are BALTO fans.

Well, that's the layperson's typical response. But if you scan through the other posts from the last month or so, you'll find much about the real story, and about Togo. The best way to dispel bad information is to read into the real history. The real record.

Sure, Balto played his part, and played it well. However, Togo ran his team at least four to six times farther, and through worse conditions, than any of the other teams. It was only Balto's team which faced nearly-as-treacherous conditions as Togo's did.

I welcome you to take a look at those other posts and threads, and absorb the information!

I like Togo too, but i think he came after Balto.

Uh, no. Togo was on the same team as Balto was, it's just he was the lead dog for about, what, 90% of the distance from Nenanna(sp?) to Nome? Balto is by far more popular, true, but Togo deserves some of that fame Balto had.
