I know what Goth is for me, but I am interested in hearing how everyone else defines Goth.

For me Goth is about:
being myself
being creative
not conforming to other people's expectations
seeing beauty in pain and death

I would have to agree. There are so many people wearing all black and putting on black make up, but it doesn't make them goth. Goth isn't a trend. Goth is who you are. It's not really something you could put a definition on, it's something you have to decide for yourself. I think there's a little Goth in all of us, but it doesn't mean that the whole owrld is goth. Maybe it's a viewpoint on life...

I really don't know. When people don't know me that well I'm quiet, so they just assume that I'm gothic. It gets on my nerves because they think gothic is all about being quiet, and wearing black, and liking death, and hating life. I actually don't hate life anyway. I don't like death. But then I'm not gothic. I know now being gothic isn't about all that stuff. If I paint my nails black(just for fun) people start bothering me with their stupid questions like, "your not going gothic, are you?" I once had a substitute teacher ask me why I paint my nails black, because she thought it meant something bad! I don't have anything against goths, but I can be my own person and not be goth.

I think goth is just a way for some people to stand out from the crowd. (from all the preps)There's nothing wrong with it, in my opinion.^^

i think all of them but,they mostly where black and red i donno theres ths goth guy i know about high school he weres the same clothes he doesnt talk much either i dont actually know him but, he goes to the cc alot (community center).

I think goth is just another way of expressing yourself and your feelings and not what you wear or what type of music you listen to, so I vote 'being unique'.

I do, but not in the actual action of someone dying or suffering. I see the beauty in the learning experience. I see it as it's what you take from dealing with the experience.

Just the same, just because someone likes to be unique does not make them Goth. Nor does it mean that there is an underlying desire to be Goth. There are many things that all Goth people share in common, but they are also things that other people may enjoy too.

To me, goth is, you know, being unique. Nobody's forcing you to do anything, it's your choice. Personally, I just ignore it. It's their choice, I can't interfere with that.

How can you say being a goth is unique? I know lot's of goths having played in a band with one and countless fans because of it.. they aren't unique THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME!

It was best summed up by a girls 'gothic' handbag we saw in a shop full of clothes for that genre. It read on the side of it 'I love being different'. Yeah about as different as every other child who bought that bag lol.

To me what being a goth means is angst and that is because all the goths I know (countless amounts of them of all ages) are full of angst 'were so different, the world doesn't understand us..' get over it. Plus it is funny when goths dance

I agree. Guess I didn't have the guts to say that though. Joking. Because there are so many goths in the world,(or the united states) it's like they're not different anymore. But ofcourse they do stand out from the preps. I guess in some places goths are unique, other places they are not.^^

i agree there is nothing unique about goth, its like every 3rd person is one...
