Well it mostly depends on where the light is coming from, the easiest way is light shining from directly above the wolf, what ever part of the wolf is facing away from the light source would be in shadow, e.g. the belly, under the neck, under the tail. I hope this is a help for now but I'll make a tutorial on this coz I don't think anyone has yet, I'll post it tomorrow but try and use this brief explanation for now.
