For those of you who own a mac and know of Adium this is for you. If you won a mac but don't have Adium get it here:

for those of you who don't have a mac...why are you reading this? I mean do you even like macs? If you do good for you! Anywho, most of you by now know that just about every aspect of Adium is customizable...even the sounds that Adium makes when you log on and off or send messages. The question is, why not take this one step further? It's simple really, what you do is download Audacity (a free easy to use recording program). Having done that you will need to convert the files into MP3 format for use in Adium, to do this you need to get the LameLib plugin for Audacity...(it's free too). Once you have done these steps (you will need a mic of some sort) find some sound effects or short music clips that you like and record them as best you can with your recording system you just set up. Once you have done that, use Adiums simple sound set editing interface to swap out their sounds with yours. Or if you want some nifty prefabricated sound sets just go to the Adium web site and look under the sound sets section on the extras page. If you need more info on how to do all this contact me by PM and I'll try to walk you through the steps in more detail.
Ta for now.
