I'd have to agree. I would like to see a little more bambi and his father.
Well, seeing Bambi with the Great Prince more would have been against the Great Prince's character. In the beginning, he was all about the "proper way of being a prince" and he only wanted his son to be just like he was now: a regal prince that lives to protect and defend the forest and its inhabitants. However, Bambi is just a young child who has just lost the one guardian that was there ever since his birth: his mother. He's jstill just a child, curious about the world around him that he too will one day rule as a great prince.
I liked the fact that as time moved on, The Great Prince began to soften his stern demeanor, showing Bambi that he can be a father, but it is the film's climax (which I won't give away, just in case you haven't seen it) that unlocks the true compassion that the Great Prince has for his growing son. He realizes that he was just the same way when he was young, and that when Bambi matures into a young stag, he will do great things for the forest, thanks to him.
And BTW, I refuse to call the movie "Bambi 2." That title degrades the quality of the film into a pointless sequel that makes no sense as a continuation to the classic Disney film. "Bambi and the Great Prince (of the Forest)" is a much better title IMO, but that's only because it makes the film stand on its own four feet. Heck, you could watch the film and not even realize that it was a midquel for Bambi (unless you've seen the original film, mind you)!
If you haven't watched it yet, I recommend that you do! This is probably Disney's best DTV achievement yet (since TLK2, IMO).
That's my two cents.
