Pirate-fox. I dont agree with you fully, but sometimes I do. But you see, we all have our own minds. Sometimes we cant control the wholeness we come up with inside our head.

Like for instants... my characters make themselves. Yes, you heard me. I give them a gender & a general name. They take the rest. Sometimes its a gender & look. They make themselves. I just play them.

I know, we are talking about balto, aleu, kodi... ect... but still. In my mind they could make themselves that way. I dont know what to really tell you.

Each is our own person with our own ideas. ^^

True true. As I say, To all is our own opinion. I am glad you voiced yourself. I'm sure a few may agree with you.

But indeed... with out fully knowing what has happened in their lives, you never know what could happen & how very true they could be. ^^

But then again, this is just Maya speaking. She knows nothing about writting stories... After all, they just write themselves.

This topic might be a little dangerous, but I've got to say my opinion. I kind of agree with Pirate. I don't like the way some authors make 'Balto' characters become "evil", and twist their personalities, so to speak. Yes, Maya_huskee, characters do kind of do their own thing when you think about them and write about them enough, but the character you're writing about is YOU. It's YOUR MIND that's making the character that way. I will just say I really don't like how Balto, Aleu, Kodi, etc. have been shown in some fanfics.

I kind of agree, but I hope this isn't counting the ones where the characters keep their personalities most of the time, but are then thrust into a state where they're not themselves, such as Balto123's story "A New Threat", where Balto is turned rabid and attacks Jenna. But thankfully, only temporarily.

Please don't write in bolt, it's making difficult to read.
Well this is a little true, the fanfics writers want to explore other ways. But there are fanfics descriptions, so if you don't want to read one fanfics, don't read it.
Also, I still need to display the ratings on the cover...

I totally agree. Some people just ruin the characters.

I guess that's why they're called FAN-fics, lol, since it's just a story written by a fan, I don't continue reading if I don't like they way the character is portrayed but I do find it interesting to see peoples different ways of using the Balto characters.

I don't have a problem with it. People get bored with the same old characters. With Aleu and Kodi, we don't know much about them so who's to say that they aren't like that? No one. I like stories like that to tell ya the truth. I really liked Cat's one with Kodi. It was much more interesting than Kodi/Dusty fics. And some that I'm writting. I know a lot of people might not like me for them, but whatever. If that's what they think, I don't care. To each her/his own.

Yeah, I know. They showed NO signs of romance. Kodi just happens to be the hot gut and Dusty just happens to be a girl.

Yeah. When I do my version of that it's gonna be A LOT different. There's gonna be a big twist with Dusty. And I mean a BIG twist. (Hopefully) No one will see it coming.

Time to jump in.
There have been many good, valid, supported thoughts posted here, but I think it does all come back to two basic things:
1) This is fan-fiction. Meaning that the fans take what a movie producer or author has done, and ussually changes the story ('What if?' situations) or further developes the character(s). I will agree that sometimes this can get out of hand, but for the most part it's just writers exploring possibilities.
2) There are fanfic descriptions. Read them, and decide whether you like them or not. If you like it, great, have fun. If not, great, find another. BUT, if you don't like it, read it, and then flame the author (as I have seen done), you're really only talking to yourself, because no one else really wants to hear it. I've had a flame or two, but from what I can see it's people who read the summary, find it odd or wrong or whatever, and then read it anyway. Then they flame the author. That just hacks me off.
