Because of several issues I am having with worrying about art thieft and story corruption, my posting f several pieces of work, "The BaltoSource Legend", "A Family's Burning Rage" and several fanarts, I have created this petition in hopes that we at baltosource can come up with an idea to control fan art and fiction theft. there is no way to put a permanent stop to it, but if we can control the url attached to the pictures(yes I have found that almost everything on the internet has a url curculation) maybe we can do something about the theft. in fact, we don't already do this, maybe we could create a fantheft commitee. that way, if art is found stolen by people here or in other places, we can hold these people accountable for this illegal issue. So please support it!

Well Steet has already disabled the right-click 'save-as' thing so people can't save the pictures to their own PC anymore and if people copy the URL of the page the pic is on it won't work if they put as it's the url of the entire page, fairly good idea though.

true but many of the pictures have already been stolen, and steet can't stop it once it's off the site.

That is very true, like Black Shimmer said, the damage has already been dealt and there's nothing we can do now, *cries*, all we can do is set the example by ignoring rude people and being respectful to other artists, even if we don't like their art much ourselves the artist still worked very hard on it and is the best they can do so we should still show respect, I know that's how I would like people to be to me and my art, I know not all people like it and I'm glad it's that way coz that is what makes me strive harder to make it better but I'd still like it if people showed respect to others, good idea Rozalyn.

Not the best idea though... I can still think of 4 more ways to counter that and save a picture to my PC without the use of a "Save As..." or a URL. Its not difficult. Art theft will never stop- just think of it as that way... never

Plus, the chances of a petition passing is one in a million shot in the dark. Even if the petition magically passes, I doubt it will/would stop or even slightly 'slow' down theft productions. There is just too much going on- and people are such dumb sh*ts because they are pirating/stealing anything someone else already owns. (and that makes up most people who use the Internet).

I can think of ONE way to stop them...

All artists get their artwork copyrighted, it would take a long time for all of them to get the copyright papers but it is possible to copyright any art with your name on it and then if anyone does steal it you can sue them and I'll bet none of them want a court hearing and a criminal record.

You could copyright your work (like I recommended in another post), but also note you cannnot put a legal right to you if any contents of your art are already under copyright laws (unless you have trademarks, but otherwise you'll be the one who is being sued). Also note it still won't scare everyone away either. Most will simply think there is no way to find them (and just simply tracking their IP won't work 100% of the time. All the persons got to do is simply change their IP- and thats not hard either)

I see your point...darn art theives, well they are'nt untouchable either and sooner or later they are going to get what they deserve...and when that time comes I'm going to sit back and laugh at them, someone will find a way soon enough.

No one is untouchable...
No one is perfect...
No one is getting away...

Simple as that. Anyone who steals (whether it is art, stories, programs, etc.) should be persecuted to the maximum extent for infrigement. However, you must have legal documents of copyright material before this can occur. And you can send those people a hefty fine maximum $15,000 USD...

EDIT: Is a good thing to think about, but these things aren't probably gonna happen. Life will just go on like it is today. Nothing will really change.

i had no idea they all left! I love thier art! in fact, i get some of my best work, from THEIR IDEAS! and true this petition may not work, but on knowing that they have left this site, this is all the more reason we need to do something! maybe i am being radical for thinking this, but one of my characters ROZALYN herself, which is a representation of MYSELF has already BEEN STOLEN, which to me means I HAVE BEEN STOLEN OFF THE INTERNET! someone used me and my profile description in a story, and literally stole my wolf identity! one of the reasons I fell so strongly about this! this is WRONG!!!!!!!! and I REFUSE to BACK OFF and WATCH IT HAPPEN!! i'm sorry, but really not gonna shut up about this UNTIL I GET THIS HELL OF A VIOLATION ENDED!!!!!!

once i get enough support for this, i will present the idea to steet. i'm hoping this will help the problem some how, and it may help any new mods, altough i don't see how mods are involved in this because i come here all the time... but please support it!
