My new story is called: "Balto: Shadow's Team."
Shadow (Aleu's mate) has a kind of "seecret service" team that protects Aleu
and generally provides some good fighters for the pack when they need them.
They are of course willing at any time (and often do) to take a bullet for
her, or bassically to give their lives in her defense.
This is actually how Aleu and Shadow met. (If you read either "Jenna's
Journey" or "Who she is" you can find that story)
Anyway, the team get's wiped out by a sneak attack from the Uniea clan (an
enemy pack) while they're hunting.
Out of like thirty five wolves, Shadow, Dash, Timbre and Lightning (Shadow's
best friend) survive.
So Shadow begins to recruit new members to fill the holes, knowing that war
with the Uniea clan IS imminent.
Dash's son Talkeet decidedes to try.
Shadow is going to hold a competition to see who will be the next members,
and this competition is dangerous, very dangerous.
It pits the wolves against each other, in a fighting/ingenuity competition
and a test to see just how willing to do what they might have to (for Aleu)
they are.
There are sixty wolves in the competition, and only thirty spots.
The losers probably won't survive....
Balto and Jenna are recovering from the events of the last story (with Balto
cheating on her and all) and Dash invites them to come watch (Talkeet is
their grandson) They do, and the competition insues.
"Balto: Shadow's Team" is the first part of a three part series.
In the second one, Talkeet (who makes the team of course) gets to be a great
fighter, better than even Shadow (the best fighter in the pack) and
eventually is captured, as the war that Shadow feared begins.
With the aid of a female from the Uniea clan, Talkeet escapes, and returns
home.
In part III Talkeet is again captured (he's in the thick of it all the time)
but this time, instead of imprisioning him, the Uniea clan Alpha just wants
to talk.
When Talkeet joined the team, he made a vow, a vow to protect Aleu, but at
the same time to fight for peace.
Talkeet takes the peace part more seriously than the Aleu part. He fights to
end the fighting.
The Uniea Alpha tells Talkeet that he sent messengers (asking for peace) to
Aleu just a few days previous and that they were killed.
The Uniea alpha tells him that the reason they are fighting is that they
want everyone, all wolves to be one clan, one family, for only then would
there be true peace. (In truth the Alpha is just power hungry, and evil at
that!) Talkeet falls for his trick hook, line and sinker. The Uniea Alpha
twists Talkeet (the best fighter that Aleu has) against Aleu, and against
the Talbourne clan (his pack)
Talkeet goes back to Aleu, and confronts her about it, and finds that what
the Alpha told him is true. The messengers were killed, but they asked not
for peace, but surrender. That would make Aleu's clan part of the Uniea and
simultainiously make the Talbourne cease to exist.
Talkeet sees nothing wrong with this, as they would all be one "family."
Aleu is disturbed by Talkeet's new ideas, and asks his father to speak to
him.
When Dash does, the verbal confrontation the two have ends with Dash letting
him go, telling him to go back to the Uniea, before Shadow hears his ideas
and has him killed for treason. (The only reason Dash does this is because
Talkeet is his son)
Talkeet goes back, joins the Uniea (for peace) and eventually tries to kill
Aleu, beleiving that if she was lost, that the Talbourne would concede.
Though Talkeet really likes Aleu, and doesn't want her to die, he believes
the reactions that would come from her death would outweigh the loss of one
wolf, no matter who they happen to be.
Dash confronts Talkeet just as he is about to finish his task (the Talbourne
are under attack by the Uniea when Talkeet acts)
and though Dash tried to avoid it, he can't let Talkeet kill Aleu, no matter
who he is.
Dash has to fight Talkeet, and probably kills him.
This is a very emotional story, that I actually came up with while walking
back from Episode III: Rise of the Sith.
I liked the idea of someone twisting a friend against a friend, and the
emotional response that seeing Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting one another
caused.
I decided to do much the same thing.
I think it'll be good, and the emotions will run much stronger in this one
because instead of being best friends, it's a father and son.
I hope my "trilogy" turns out alright, I think it will.
