Old topic, but hey, its a nice one to bring back from the dead
If Steele was the hero, then Balto shippers would have no right to complain, would they?
Well, Balto would continue to be looked down upon and disrespected by people, and thus probably making him more down in the dumps about life in general.
Steele would continue to gloat, but his fame probably wouldn't last as long, unless the musher was injured. Because a dog returning home from such a long distance in such extreme weather is amazing to people. And the fact that Balto was a wild animal (to them) impressed people even more.
I doubt Jenna would thank Steele, unless she was confronted about it. Then maybe she would give him a half-hearted thanks like "I appreciate you saving Rosie, but..no" Then Steele might either argue with her about it, or to not necessarily make a scene about it, he'd go start a rumor about it XD
I don't think Jenna would get with Balto. Because only on the journey did she finally realize that he cared about her and Rosie. Yeah, it was hinted to her when he took her to the hospital and showed her the lights and stuff, but even before that she found him a bit of a creeper. She might still be nice to him.
But then again, she didn't care about the rumors being spread about her and Balto. But that could say a few things about her. That she doesn't care what others think (which was pretty much said and done at the beginning of the movie since she appeared to be the only female not interested in Steele.
But I have a theory about this). But it could've also said that it was true and that she was in fact interested in Balto. But it could've also said that she has more important things to worry about (like Rosie) than to even bother with a stupid rumor. It all depends on how you read her mischievous glance at Dixie and Sylvie (when Sylvie says "*gaaaaasp* I'm speechless...!

")
So unless Balto had the courage to try again with Jenna, I don't think she'd be interested in him "that way". This doesn't mean she still wouldn't be friends with him.
