I've been trying to figure out which Balto DVD has the Documentary on it. I have the file on my computer in a low resolution and I want it in all it glory ;) ... I was pretty sure it was on the Region 2 DVD, which brings up another question. Is the Balto Region 2 DVD in 16:9 or 4:3 resolution (aka widescreen or fullscreen)? And one more question. Will a computer read a Region 2 DVD or is it all software related. I have a program that should be able to read PAL formatting but I wasn't sure if the actual drive had anything to do with or such.

Thanks ahead of time :D

I'd suggest buying the Brazillian version. It's region free, about the same price as a region 1, has the documentary and is in widescreen. Check it out on ebay or google it.

And I believe that your drive has to be able to read the region, I don't think it's software.

Yes, there are only two versions of the dvd : the region 1 DVD and the non-region 1 DVD. (so the region 2 DVD and the brazilian version are the same) And the film is in 16/9e on the non-region 1 DVD (which is nearly a miracle, considering Universal policy!) and it has the documentary.

My computer wont read my Region 2 DVD of Balto...But, then again, my computers, like, mucked up...(Sorry if I'm a little off-topic)

And I think everybody else answered the other questions...

Well there are Region-Free DVD players but I don't think most DVD Drives are region-free. Don't quote me on that though, I could be wrong that's why I asked the question in the first place :)

Any good DVD/game/music store (i.e. HMV, etc) or you can order them from Amazon, there's a link on the BS home page or you can get 'em on e-bay.

There are softwares that can read all DVDs, unlike Powerdvd and Windvd, even if your drive is not region free. You should make a search on google.
They are useful when you have blocked your drive to a region that is unusable...

I was looking through WinDVD last night and found a setting where you could change to any region. I haven't tested it as I don't have any other region DVD's other than Region1 but are you sure WinDVD doesn't play them??? Just saw that and was curious

You have to be careful doing that, some PCs and DVD players and PSs can only change regions so many times, after that you're stuck with the one you've got selected.

I understand what you're saying, but from what I'm seeing it was a settings menu that you can change around whenever. Like a preferences menu. But maybe it will start doing it automatically who knows. I haven't tried. Thanks
