I've noticed that people are going more and more far with the size of their
signatures, and if I don't do anything right now, things will get out of control. Have you only noticed that there are more pictures than text?? This is not normal.
So, from now on, signatures that are more than 600 pixels in width and more than 200 pixels in height will be removed without asking.
You don't have to get an enormous signature to look good, take GK's signature for example. On the contrary, enormous signatures tend to look horrible. If you don't know how to resize pictures, take a look at this :
viewtopic.php?p=6154#6154

As for the avatars (or sigs), I will forbid animated avatars. They can become extremely annoying with time, and they make the forums load much longer. Everyone does not have a broadband connection...
And everyone should be at the same rank and use static avatars.

I'm not doing that to annoy you, don't forget that many forums just don't allow these kind of things.
Take The Icy Boards for example, you can't have signature on it, and I doubt you can use animated avatars too. If they've done that, they have good reasons.
Don't make me want to do the same.

Well, even if no one really said that, I know what is best for the site. Do you know many good sites/forums that have animations all other the place? (except from the annoying advertisements...) No! Because there are and there will always be people like me who don't like seeing repeted animations while they are trying to read the actual content, which must stay the most important, above all.

Just to point out that we at TIB do alloy sigs, just not images in the sigs and animated avatars are also allowed. I use the same one here as I do there but it's your forum so if my av goes I'll replace it with a static one.

I don't think your avatar is annoying, it just winks it's eyes every once in a while. You see, human's eyes react to movement and that's why animation aren't so cool as avatars and signatures. Reading peoples's post gets hard, if something is always winking and moving here and there.

I was just wondering, that when you wanna post pics here, could it bepossible to just post the links to 'em, because people using slow connections may get a bit frustrated. I know indeed what I'm talking about; I used to have a reeeeally slow connection, and oh what an agony! It would just be nice for everyone. Any opinions?

That's what I meant by signatures, because most people here use the term "signature" for the picture itself.
About the animated avatars, I never noticed that yours was animated (so I guess it's not annoying at all), I do the same on my site itself with the characters head in the menu. I believe most people on TIB just don't know that they can put animated avatars, then.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one, then  Most animations on the web are advertisement, because as you said, "human's eyes react to movement".

Yes finally! Mainly it's animated signatures that tend to annoy me. It's frustrating when you're trying to read something when the picture below is moving around and it's just plain distracting.

It's ok, it doesn't move too much. But it's still a bit big. A regular 56k modem will take at least 10 seconds to load it, and only that.
