Who here plays these games?
The first one came out for the Super Nintendo (SNES) in 1993 as Star Fox in America and Japan and as Starwing in Europe and Germany.
It was the first game to use 3D polygons.
It was later planned to make Star Fox 2 but it was canceled to make way for Star Fox 64.
Star Fox 64 came out for the Nintendo 64 (N64) in 1998. This game was also called Lylat Wars.
Then some time after the release of Star Fox 64, Rare started to work on a N64 game called Dinosaur Planet.
But when the Nintendo Game Cube came out and some other events took place, the game changed from Dinosaur Planet for the N64 to Star Fox Adventures for the NGC. It came out in 2002.
See a resemblance?
Then another title came out for the NGC. It was Star Fox Assault released in 2005.
It doesn't stop there! At this year's E3, Nintendo announced a new Star Fox game for the Nintendo DS. Star Fox Command (Star Fox DS).
Okay, I've got some detail for this game.
----------------------------------------
Star Fox: Command is for the DS and was released in Japan on August 3, 2006 and will be available in the states on August 28, 2006. There is no word when the game goes to Europe.
Star Fox: Command is the fifth installment to the Star Fox franchise and the first to be on a handheld system.
Star Fox: Command has and one player story mode and will support multiplayer by LAN and WiFi.
Single Player
In the story mode a race of fish-like beings called the Anglors have appeared from the acidic oceans of planet Venom and have spread into the rest of the Lylat System, theorizing the planets and the inhabitants. The Star Fox Team has separated and now it’s only the leader, Fox McCloud, and the service robot, ROB. The story, like in Star Fox 64, will branch out and feature multiple endings. Character will join and leave the Star Fox Team depending on the path the player decides to take the story.
Each path will have a number of missions to complete (collectively, the game will feature 30+ missions). Each mission brings the player to an overhead map of the current area. The Great Fox flies onscreen and any current teammates are dispatched as well. Each mission requires the player to manipulate their teammates by drawing their flight paths on the touch screen. Enemy groups and bases are present on the map as well so the idea is to protect Great Fox by intersecting the enemy groups and eliminating them while capturing bases. The Great Fox is not, by all means, defenseless. It can use the missile power ups that are picked up. In some missions the enemy will be hiding in a fog of war, which you can search through with the stylus at the beginning of each turn.
When a teammate’s ship gets contact with a base or enemy group(s) the game switches into 360º free flying area or “all rang mode” found in Star Fox 2 and Star Fox 64. The controls for this mode are mapped for the main use coming from the stylus. Standard stylus movement is used to control the pitch and yaw movement of the ship, double tapping on the top half of the screen is the boost, double tapping the bottom half of the screen is the break, quick right and left movements is the barrel roll, loops and U-turns are on screen buttons, bombs are drag and drop from a bank to the radar on the touch screen, and the D-pad, face buttons (A,B,X,Y), and shoulder buttons are mapped to fire the laser cannon. Each battle has a time limit and a number of stars to collect that are hidden within a specific type of enemy. Normally, once you meet the star limit the battle ends and the enemy group is destroyed but bases have the extra requirement of destroying the enemy base after the stars are collected. Time extend power ups are available if the player wants to extra points before the last star is collected.
The in-game characters will speak before each mission, on the overhead map, and during battles. Their voices are not real voices but instead they will be heard speaking like the characters in Animal Crossing. Star Fox Command will a unique feature of allowing the player to record their own voice and have the game filter it and use that as the in-game characters’ voice.

Star Fox Command Update 8/22/06
FINAL 3 DAYS!!!
Well, It's the final four days until the release of the first handheld Star Fox title,
Star Fox Command. I, like many other Star Fox fans, can hardly contain myself.
No game play elements have been reviled to my eye, so, we'll have to wait.
However, the US place holder website has been updated to have all four videos.
Go check them out! We can expect the full website in a few short days.
IGN has some English screen shots and videos.
Star Fox Command Update 8/25/06
Not much today.
In IGN's video it shows that Ash's name isn't Ash. His real name is
Dash. It seems that the first translation was faulty, so we got the name Ash.
The
Nintendo WiFi website has been updated to host the Star Fox Command gameing HUB.

- No cutscenes, but instead, 2D storyboards
- Recordable voices to replace jibberish
- Battle style and Gameplay
I'm also trying to find the official US trailers. There's a REEEEALLLY bad@$$ one with some guy trying to lecture to a bunch of kids about the solar system, and then this guy busts out his DS, then Star Fox comes flying in, it's soo cool!! If you ever find it, post a link!!

Oops... I guess the 2D storyboards slipped my mind. Thank you, Suka.
Record able voices are true but it won't replace the gibberish that the characters speak in. It works like a filter; converting your voice to gibberish so that it doesn't sound so random.
There is a small part of the commercial on Youtube...
Here it is!!!
Anyways, ING, Gamespot, and Nintendo Power have all reviewed Star Fox Command. I have the scores.
Nintendo Power: 9.5 out of 10
IGN: 8 to 8.5 (8.1) out of 10
Gamespot: 7.5 out of 10
Okay, I have finally received in use a comfortable amount of information to talk about the multiplayer for the game.
-Star Fox Command multiplayer will support up to 6 players on LAN and up to 4 on WiFi Connection.
-For all modes of play, players will only be able to play as Fox and his FireFox Arwing.
-Very weak on support information: Star Fox Command will only have download play. It is assumed that you can play multicard; which will be the same game play as download play just no downloading time.
-Some points are weak on support information: Only one game mode: Battle Royal. Each game will have three rounds. The winner of the game is decided by who wins the most rounds. Rounds are won by being the player with the most stars. Stars are collected by shooting down your opponents, but they are not given to you. Instead it will be dropped where the ship was destroyed and you have to go get it. This leaves area open for other opponents to steal your star. Levels are randomly chosen at the star of each round.
Star Fox Command Update 8/27/06
The
Star Fox Command website is LIVE!!!
Go a head and take a look at the whole website... or just a part of it but I suggest you look at the multiplayer part if it.
That's some fast pace multiplayer action!!
This might be the last update before the release date. Once I get the game, which will be on Tuesday... or Monday if things goes well at Game Stop, and I play it a while I will put up me review and a small getting started guide.
"Get DS and stylus ready and scream for you favorite fox pilot!"
