If anybody had read the origonal version, you'd melt in every paragraph. It's hard to understand how a book could be written like this one. There is little dialogue, but a lot of action and description, which is what makes this book so amazing, not just the story and characters which is how I normally judge a book. Apparently dialogue weakens the books action and description.

There was swearing? I must have forgotten it though.

I like Call of the Wild a lot (, of course, since it's where I got my name), but I still like White Fang better than it. That's why I simply put "I like it". Great story though.

I declare Jack London, The Greatest Author Forever and Ever!
I saw a little bit of the black and white movie. They terribly casted Buck. He looked like a Saint Bernard. But in the origonal towards the end it talks about Buck having a long muzzle, Though Buck was half SB half Shepherd, they could have casted a GSD crossed with an Sb, to most likely produce the description of Buck.

Swords of the Wolves wrote: I loved that book! I don't recall much swearing, but then again, I might not have read the original, but I do have it somewhere in my house. I do recall some swearing in the one I read, but nothing worse than the "s" word.
Well, the Great Illustrated Classic and the Origonal, easily stand apart. In the origonal every paragragh melts you into a puddle at the amazing detail.
