Please...?
"I Can Love You Like That" by John Michael Montgomery
"They read you 'Cinderella', you'd hoped it would come true
That one day your 'Prince Charming' would come rescue you...
You like romantic movies, you never will forget
The way you felt when Romeo kissed Juliet...
All this time that you've been waiting you don't have to wait no more..."

Balto saw Jenna sitting at the window of the hospital watching whatever was going on inside. Nervously, he walked over to a puddle of water in the melting snow. He cleared his throat and tried to push down the fur on top of his head with his paw. This only made it stick up even worse, but Balto tried, again, failing even more. He shrugged it off and and turned to look at the beautiful burgundy husky in front of him. Her fur was bright and full due to the thick winter coat that she had gained. She wore a red bandanna around her neck that fluffed up the fur on her chest and neck. Her sparkling, sapphire eyes, reflected in the window pane, burned so bright that Balto could have sworn he felt the snow melt underneath his paws....

"I can love you like that. I will make you my world
And move Heaven and Earth, if you were my girl.
I would give you my heart, be all that you need
And show you you're everything that's precious to me
If you give me a chance...
I can love you like that..."

Balto took a deep breath and steeped out of the shadows. He pricked his ears up a bit as the words he wanted to say burned on his lips. "Jenna?", he said, quietly. His words went unheard. He cleared his throat and stepped closer to her, "Jenna,". His voice broke her trance as she turned her head to look at him, "Oh, Balto... Hi...,". She turned her attention back to the window quietly. Balto smiled, now that he had her attention. He chuckled, "It's just a shot in the dark, but I was wondering if, maybe, you'd like to, oh, I don't know, uh, go chase a few sticks by moonlight, uh...,". His sentence trailed off and his smile faded as he noticed that Jenna had not even heard him. She was too troubled by something else. "Jenna?" he said, questionably and a little confused. "Rosie's in there," she said, not even turning her head as Balto propped himself up beside her. "In the hospital, why?" he asked, seeing the little girl sitting on the doctor's examination table. Jenna sighed, "She feels warm... and has a terrible cough...," she shook her head and look up to him, "Balto... what's wrong with her?". Her voice seemed to plead with him as he tried to think of a way to help her out. He'd do anything to help her. "I'm not sure... but, I know one way to find out," he said, climbing down from the window and stepping back into the shadows and toward the boiler room door.

"I'd never make a promise I don't intend to keep,
So when I say forever, forever's what I mean...
Now, I'm no cassanova, but I swear this much is true,
I'll be holding nothing back, when it comes to you...
You dream of love that's ever lasting,
Well, baby, open up your eyes....

Balto and Jenna reached the boiler room door and he checked around to make sure no one was around. "I have the keys to the city," he said, nodding toward the door. He used his wolf-like claws to pry the bolts out of the hinges and pushed the door open for her. "After you," he said, strething a very large paw out ahead of himself. "Balto..." Jenna said, surprised as she looked at his paw. Balto chuckled, uneasily and walked on in ahead of her, " Big paws kinda run in my family..." he stopped and corrected himself, "Well, at least, uh one side of my family...". Not wanting to continue their conversation any further, Jenna followed him through a hole that led them to a large underground room below the hospital. Balto stopped and smiled, letting Jenna catch up with him, "Stick close," he told her as he led her through the dark, cold shadows. "No problem there," she replied as she followed him. "It's so gloomy down here," she said, looking around the room, "Not that I'm scared or anything. She had apparently spoken to soon. She turned a corner and came face to face with an extremely large spider web. She gasped and Balto turned to see her shocked face," Gloomy? Are you kiddin'?" he asked her, flicking away the spider web with a quick swish of his tail. "This is the most beautiful spot in the world! Dogs travel for years just to be right here..." he told her, reassuringly. He led her up underneath some fallen boards and under an old cloth that hung down from the remaining support boards. "Here? I can't see why..." Jenna said, coming up with a piece of the mold-covered cloth across her muzzle. "That's cause you're lookin' at the bowl half-empty," Balto told her as he wiped the cloth away with his paw. He ran over to a clear spot higher up on the dirt floor of the underground room where light beamed through a square floor vent above him. "You see this?" he asked, pushing up a small pile of broken, glass bottles. "It's the polar ice caps,". Jenna shook her head, uneasily,"Balto, those are broken bottles... and they're not half-empty, they're all empty...". Balto shifted his eyes and muzzle to the light above him and let out a whisper, "The sun...". "Balto..." Jenna sighed in disbelief, stepping back away from him. He pushed the bottles up some more, "And, to the North..." he said, positioning them just right under the light. As soon as he stepped away, the wonderous glow of the Northern Lights began to flicker across the brick wall of foundation in front of them. "Oh, Balto...." Jenna gasped, her eyes widening at the beauty of the sight, "You were right... It is beautiful,". Her big blue eyes were hypnotized by the sight, but Balto couldn't take his eyes off of
her. "Yeah... beautiful," he smiled as she turned her eyes to his. They toward each other and got so close, Balto almost thought their noses would touch, for sure...

"I can love you like that. I will make you my world
And move Heaven and Earth, if you were my girl.
I would give you my heart, be all that you need
And show you you're everything that's precious to me
If you give me a chance...
I can love you like that...
You want tenderness... I've got tenderness...
And can see through, to the heart of you...
If you want a man, who can understand,
You don't have to look very far...
I can love you, I can-
I can love you like that. I will make you my world
And move heaven and earth, if you were my girl.
I would give you my heart, be all that you need,
And show you you're everything that's precious to me,
If you give me a chance...
I can love you like that, if you let me love you...
You're everything to me girl..."
Balto stared into Jenna's eyes. He knew she was the one for him, but he still had no idea how to even begin to tell her. Their faces inched closer and closer in the light, but both jerked away at the sound of footsteps above the. In a rush to hear what the doctor would say about Rosie's condition, Jenna ran over to the vent to look up into the small office. Balto sighed to himself, quietly, "Rosie comes first...," he thought to himself as he walked over to be there for Jenna...
END
Well, what do ya think? I worked really, really hard on it. And it's pretty hard to interpret what they were thinking and feeling, so please don't flame. This was just my outlook on the way the scene went... I hope you all like!
