I was reading through some very neat and well thought out fan stories yesterday... and I got around to wondering, "What makes us like certain stories, and not care tooo much for others, or even our own?" Well, I usually find that I like stories where the author does a wonderful job in imitating the characters, such as giving them expressions and actions that I believe fit them well, also. My own fictions have to do with one of my ideas of how Balto came to Nome. I could have written an entirely different idea, instead of what I think happened, I could do what I
want to happen. That also sets aside some fictions. If someone writes a story and has the characters do what they want, instead of trying to figure out how the character would actually deal with the situation, I tend to stop reading.
These are just some of my ideas about liking fan fictions.
