I'm curious . . .

What do you think of them? Which film of the three (yes, there is a third) is your favorite? Why do you like/dislike the movies?

Recently, a third Dr. Dolittle film was released (it came out this recent Tuesday) . . . but without Eddie Murphy in the lead? OMG, the world will end. The third focuses on one of his daughters, who apparently has the gift to talk to animals but she feels embarrassed about her powers when animals talk to her in public.

What do you guys think?

The third film sounds dumb IMO, and it's something that we've all seen before. I preferred the first two . . . mainly because of Eddie Murphy's humorous charm and wit. And Lucky . . . gotta dig the dog, man.

According to Suka's Movie Sequal Theorem, no movie sequal is better than its original. The Dr. Doolittle series are of no excepion. I really liked the first one than the second -- I don't think I'll even bother with the third. You're right. The first is better because it's a lot more funnier and easy to follow. The second was okay, bu there was much too much going on, and it got hard to keep up with everything that was going on. Lucky's cool, but I still like the alcoholic monkey better.

Ah, yes. Sequels can destroy a film . . . . or make the fanbase grow.

Anywho, I found out some more info about the third film:
- Maya (the focus of DD3) is the youngest of Dr. Dolittle's two daughters (his other daughter is Clarisse, played by Raven-Symone), who now has the gift. (Yes, I have a reason for saying "now" . . . I don't want to spoil things for the previous films.) At least she retains her same actress in all three films. That wins.

I might check it out, just for the heck of it. But that doen't mean that I'll enjoy it as much as the second.

But I agree: the first one was great and very funny, while the second one just had . . . so much going on that you could be confused. The third sounds promising, but I doubt it'll be as classic as other "people-talking-to-animals" movies.

*OMG double-post!*

Well, I saw it (Dr. Dolittle 3), and I will admit . . . it was enjoyable, but nothing was . . . . memorable. Really.

Maya's character is like those in those obvious Disney DTV sequels - the desperate teenager that wants to be accepted like normal people and not considered a freak to society for her special ability.

(Hmm, who does that sound like?)

It's worth a watch, but the movie moves quickly (probably to go with the viewer's attention span), and it's nothing you haven't seen before. Predictable . . . .
