Platoon is okay -- unlike most war movies, it has a storyline based upon a soldiers views on the war...not upon the history of what actualy happened. But movies like We Were Soldiers are also good as well.

I prefer the Apocalypse today. A great movie that captures all the emotions of the time. I recently rewatched it on 123movies and I want to say that it is really one of my favorite movies! Apocalypse Now was awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, where it premiered in its unfinished form. When it was finally released on August 15, 1979 by United Artists, it performed well at the box office, grossing $40 million domestically and eventually over $100 million worldwide.
