Don't you think it's a little weird in the scene when the race starts that earlier on, Balto was really really hesitant about going, but in this scene, it's like he knew all along that they were going to win. He has mood swings on that subject after the race too. I find it a little annoying.

He knows a team of dogs can't beat a plane, but he only did it cause of his son. Really, I think the mood swings were okay for the scene.

I would have to agree. Balto feels like he needs to live up to his reputation and he doesn't wanna let his son down, after all what father would? So I can see how he'd feel the way that he does and yet at the same time he doesn't want to discourage his son from trying his hardest.

I think it's kind of one of those times where you have a flashback and feel good all over again. Once he was in the harness, it brings back old memories

I would have to agree to that. I mean, being part of a dog sled team was something he had dreamed of since he could remember. I mean, it's what he was famous for after all!

I understand that probably he was nervous about the fact that he knew: not even with him in the lead, the team didn't stand a chance against the plane. But, of course, if it's for his special little boy, Balto'll do whatever it takes to make his son happy, even if it's only a false hope.

Yup, I think your right too. Balto WILL do anything to make Kodi happy. Same thing with Aleu :)

Uhh, not really.

**off-topic** Remember in WQ, Balto was trying to control what he wanted Aleu to do, almost like controlling her life. He was being so overprotective that it seems he had forgotten about her happiness. This was her life, and there was nothing that he could do to keep her from the life that she was destined to live. **/end off-topic**

Now in WoC, it's been at least a year or so since he saw Aleu achieve her "happiness", and now it was Kodi's turn. Of course, he wants to be lead dog, just like his father, and Balto does notice how happy Kodi is on the team ("He does get that gleam in his eye." - Balto, WoC). Ever since the team heard about the plane's possible overtaking of their jobs, the dogs would do anything to keep their jobs so that they'd at least have someone to love and care for them (and also because, as Dusty said in the film, they don't know how to do anything else but run in a sled team).

But of course, everything turns for the best in the end. The dogs are heroes, Balto is even more prouder of his son than he knows, and that's it, I guess.

So I guess Kodi did achieve his happiness: not only did he learn a lesson about life from his old man, but his sudden change revealed his true self to his colleagues - the true self that Balto knew was inside him all along.

Gah, I rambled again . . . ^__^;
