Don't you think it's odd that the crate carrying the medicine doesn't break after the fall off the cliff, or during the fight scene, but then bursts open in the cave? Just a random thought I had a minute ago

yea that is pretty wierd, i never really thought too much about that

interesting thought . . . maybe the crate is more durable than it is labeled to be. But probably all the strain and rough handling it endured during the trip caused it to weaken, and then it finally broke in the cave.

i don't think it said 'fragile' because the box was fragile, but because if it was dropped hard enough, the capsules of medicine might shatter. and that's a good question you have there...i never really took the time to think about it.

I agree. I also don't understand why Balto and Steele can still get up and be perfectly fine after smashing down the side of a cliff. Surely broken bones would occour?

don't forget that it's a cartoon. dogs/wolves are pretty stable animals, and they have an instinct to not show pain, otherwise, it leaves them prone to an attack from a predator. that's most likely the reason why they were fine after falling off the cliff.

Yeah, maybe with all the torture the box took, it broke in the cave and the medicine in the fragile jars broke?

Simple answer. It's an animation. In reality it would be turned into pieces by falling from that height. In reality, Balto or any other wolf/dog would be impossible to drag the crate back again to the top. have you watched that cliff? it's almost perpendicular.

the box must be strong for a strike. but not strong for a sharp cut....I think. the ice was preety sharp, wasn't it?

Yeah, that is kinda strange how it didn't break.

I guess the story wouldn't have a happy ending if they did break huh?

That is strange once you think about it....

There are many minor inconstancies that occur in the film. Since some have been mentioned already, I will point out a few of them that stick out in my mind. The bear scene sticks out since it should not even have occurred since the bear would have be hibernating. Also, Balto manages to escape the bear scene unhurt after being nearly crushed to death and then nearly drowns. Jenna, however, is hurt with a broken or sprained ankle on her left foreleg.

Another inconstancy is that the serum box is lashed back down to sled after Balto pulls it the up the cliff. Since the musher is unconscious, nobody could have lashed the box down to the sled.
