I know there is already a topic on Spirited Away, and I apologize if this falls under the catagory of a repeat topic. I did not find any in my thourough, yet breif examintions of the rest of the topics posted here. Anyway.....
I have become enchanted with Miyazaki's masterpieces. The funny thing was, I was scared to watch Spirited Away when it first came out because it looked so....well....strange. Now I have become a complete Miyazaki junkie. Though I have only seen four of his brilliant movies (Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, Kiki's Delivary Service, and my personal favorate, Princess Mononoke), I hold these as the prize of the animated world.
As I have stated, I have had the pleasure to watch four of his movies, but there are many more. The Grave of the Fireflies, Castle in the Sky, and Howl's Moving Castle are only some of the ones I have not been able to view.
These movies are not only masterpieces because of their wonderfully hand-drawn animation, but because of their well-rounded characters and storylines. They are a pleasure to watch and they open a new door into a world in which I have never experienced before.

------>From my favorite movie, Princess Mononoke

Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorites so far.
I have to say that his artistry and imagination, I admire greatly. But I think that the movies where he doesn't use his own stories usually end up better In my opinion.
XD That doesn't mean I don't like his stuff. I loved Princess Monoke, Whisper of the Heart, Spirited away, and other stuff from him mentioned here.
o_O Tales of earthsea sounds so interesting, heard about it awhile back, I'm also eagerly looking forawrd to it.

Yeah..... Tales from Earthsea looks like his best movie yet! And I agree that when he doesn't use his own storylines, they tend to be less crowded and more pleasing to the mind. True, they may seem way out there when he makes them off of his own ideas, but it also may be that I have no experience with the Japenese culture other than through a friend. But yead, I am very exited about Tales from Earthsea...
P.S- What does XD and o_O mean? (Sorry, lots of stuff goes right over my head...wooosh)

I thought O_o is when someone is giving you The Brow -- you know, you raise one of your eyebrows, and lower the other to give a sorta questioning look? You know The Rock? He can do it quite good.
Whoa, aren't WE getting off subject here. Hayao Miyazaki has a very distinguishable style in which all of his movies originate from. I just can't put my claw on it, but they just have that something, y'know?

That's what happened to me on Princess Mononoke.
