I believe that Universal justified the making of Balto III since enough people bought WQ thinking it would be on the same level as the original. Then when they released Balto III I think some people avoided it because they thought that Balto III would be as poorly done as Wolf Quest was as far as animation and what not. So in the end I think Balto 2 was popular enough becauseo of the origonal to justify 3.

Even so Wings of Change didn’t get enough marketing to make it known to the masses

Agreed. It really depends on how good the previous sequal was before anyone can really decide weather or not the next one is worth watching.

You're right Lakoswolf, this is what happened.
And contrary to what some of you seem to think, Balto 2 got good sales, and even exceeded their expectations. Strange to think that it's the only one out of the three that got good sales, while it wasn't the best...

That does make sence because after they saw the first they went and bought the 2nd asuming that it would be good or better then the first, so when they made the 3rd people were thinkin that what if this one was as bad or worse then the 2nd so some people took chaces and bought the 3rd one so thats why the 2nd made the most sales.

Personaly I loved the 2nd one because Aleu is my favorit charactor and I liked the aboriginal story and some of the other things about it.

The difference is that some projects are born because of a will and the desire to create something new, with money being a secondary reason; of course this means taking risks. And you can't deny that nowadays, there are less and less projects like this, whatever you're talking about. (movies, video games, music...) Now, they only exploit the things that are known to sell well.

So no, it hasn't always been like that, and the companies which don't want to take any risks may generate money, but no creativity.
But if they don't try new things, new approaches, they are bound to fail in a long term.

Of course Balto isn't a "new thing", but they still never realized the potential of it, and never exploited it in a good way. Now they are making me regret that Balto isn't a Disney franchise, because I know it would have become a success comparable to The Lion King, and it deserved it.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. Disney did an awesome job with their TLK Collectors Edition, I would have absolutely loved to see a Balto Collectors Edition put together like Disney did for TLK. grincolonp.gif

*Edited for a spelling mistake that was really bugging me. lol edited a second time to insert this edit note. lol

It's kinda too bad, I expected so much more from universal it's like back handing there fans right in the fase, they could have done so much more.

Yeah, I agree with Lakoswolf too. Although a small minority of fans may buy Balto 4, that's not going to sway the decision of an internationally famous movie company. They didn't stick around from over 75 years by making poor business decision like making a movie for a small fan group. Sorry if this offended anyone, but I speak the truth.

Sorry but potential buyers are not only "a small fan group". If they would have done a real marketing plan, Wings of Change would have had decent sales. Even Wolf Quest did make very good sales, so no, potential buyers are a lot more people than this. But when you see that even Balto fans discovered Balto 3 was released only when they found it in shops, you can tell there was a real problem.

And Glen ross was trying to get us to watch "Pennys wish"So the sales might go higher....

??? No relation to this, it was Phil Weinstein who told us about it, and he's independant now. Don't mix everything.
