I posted this since well come to think of it I really don't want there to be Balto plushies, balto cups and such. I'd rather they come out with a new movie not an animated one that would tell the real story and what actualy happened with the run. I don't want people to think of Balto as a cartoon charater in a movie i'd rather they see the real him. Not as some wolfdog hybrid who has a daughter as an alpha and a son as a mail dog, thats not Balto. Balto is in a museum here in Ohio. I may get flamed for this but hey its just my point of view am not pushing it on anyone.

I hope this will not start another war as it did with the petition...
I must say that I am myself fan of the animated film, and to me the true story is more a bonus to the story itself, making it more believable.
Everybody knows that even the original Balto did not really follow the real story, it's a secret for no one. But I feel that Disney has been doing much worse with dealing with true stories or such. (Pocahontas 2...the worse example)
Except from very little kids, I think everyone here is conscious that what we're talking is about the animated film, not the true story. I think everyone is able to make a gap between the two. So I don't think that making merchandises would hurt the real Balto.

A real film on Balto would be nice to people who want to know more about the true story. It would look more as a documentary than a film though, so that may be the reason there hasn't been one yet, but there are documentaries.

I'm thinking of adding new things in my "true story" section on the site. At least adding more screenshots from the documentary, since it isn't on the US dvd, so most of you weren't able to see it.

I never said anything about starting a word Steet. Heh, the older members of TBL know how I am with the sequals of Balto I hate them with a deep deep passion I just can't stand to watch them because of the character, the voices, the color and the story lines I couldn't stand. For some odd reason I am embarrest to watch the last two Balto's but I have no trouble with the first one some reason I feel more connected with the characters and such. I also don't want universal making money offBalto as they would start making Balto items.

That's what I feared, it's starting to be in the same colors as the petition...Please don't mention new Balto products. If things go wrong, and someone start being aggressive, I'll be sure to be making my job of moderator...I know I am partly responsible for the war that happened, but I at least want to prevent another one.

I think it would be kind of neat if someone did make a live action Balto movie, and make it as close to the true story as possible.

I would enjoy a live action version showing the true story too, it would be completely different from what we are used to. It is a shame that the original black and white silent movie with Balto himself is in has been lost

Nice sig Steet.

Oh, thank you. I liked that quote.
Isn't a part of this original black and white silent movie, in the documentary? How could they lose something like that?
Too bad for the real Balto to live in modern times, or I'm sure he would have never been exploited as he has been.

PS : SH talked to me, and she would be a good psychologist. She has very well understood me, as no one else did. And I'm glad she did. Thank you SH.

I respect your opinions and beliefs, Maverick. You and Steet are not bad people, unlike some other people I know of who would say that people are on drugs and/or are crazy for having the beliefs in having cartoon characters be made real in some form of way or believing that animals are like people and can communicate in some of the ways that humans can.
Sorry to be off-topic.

I for one love ALL of the Balto movies and ALL of the canine characters with the exception of Steele. I believe that making big, and I do mean big stuffed animals of the characters and other merchandise will create an even greater heaven for Balto fans the world over.

Steet, I think you are refering to the newsreel footage that was shot in Nome. The movie, however, was shot on a glacier in Washington state and not Alaska. I'm not sure why the newsreel was saved and the movie was lost.

Yeah, if I recall Hollywood actually owned Balto for a while, not 100% sure on that though

Thanks for clearing that up.
So I guess it has been filmed after the epidemic? I suppose it was for marketing purposes, then...
