1: Balto was not a wolf dog, and even if he was, I would not suggest getting one as a pet, unless you KNOW what you're getting into. Wolf-dogs do not make great pets.
2: Before you get a dog, do some research to make sure you're getting a dog that FITS your personality. If you're not an active person, a Husky will not be the right dog for you.

OH yeah, your not really supposed to get a wolf dog, and the reasons are good enough. It may not be illegal, but it should be for a family. Families or people without the type of knowledge needed really shouldn't have a wolf dog. People who live out in the moutains or somewhere with alot of space and plenty of knowledge and college education could probally have one. ^.^ But they need a companion, so a dog could be a nice friend. ^.^

Well, I have a husky, and you have to be very persistent with training. They are almost too smart for their own good. Excercise is great, but it is not eneough. You have to be willing to deal with exessive barking, excitablity, and most of all, escape artists. If you don't have a secure yard, then DON'T get a husky. They are also very independent dogs who are snuggly only on their terms.
I am not trying to dissuade you from huskies, they are great dogs, and I love 'em....but they are not for first-time dog owners if you are one.... If not I'd say go for it if you are willing for a lot of work (That comes with a lot of rewards )

Strangely enough, there is a person on the island who owns a wolf dog and takes him everywhere. He is actually one of the most well behaved dogs I know, but that could just be a very rare incident among wolf-dogs

I feel the same way too; it works almost like subliminal advertising.

Siberian huskies are not pets, they are meant to be working dogs and they make horrible pets. I have known 100s of Siberians and they are bred for one thing, running. You cannot/should not ever let them off the leash, they eat your house, they can escape from anything, I knew one that could jump a 6 foot fence!. Oh year you need 7 foot fences around your garden, you also need the fence to go a further 2 feet under ground because they dig!. Yes they are friendly and yes they OMG LOOK LIKE WOLVES!!!111 Well actually no they don't if you have ever actually seen a wolf..
Don't be stupid if your going to get a dog get one that is meant to be a pet.. Pet huskies usually get fat and htat is unfair for the dog especially if you live outside a cold region.
I'll keep that in mind about the huskies if I ever get another dog. Basicly, the only way I would EVER get a wolf-dog was if it's life depended on me, which isn't likely to happen, lol. I do however prefer German Sheperds and labs to the other smaller dogs

I liked from Husky but still I love Flat-Coated Retriever because their so cute for me ^^
They are calm and friendly dogs and doesn't need so great training but still need one. Mine one is calm and (idiot) but yet his good friend and his also annoying towards me!! Always teasing!

Quote: I would EVER get a wolf-dog was if it's life depended on me If you want to help out a wolf-dog you'd let a wolf sanctuary take care of the mutt. Quote: dam well I am very enegetic and get up 6 am for a walk in the park and a book I got dsaid they made good pets.
If that's for a husky, listen to AC. He knows what he's talking about, but if that book is talking about wolf-dogs being good pets, that author should be shot. Wolf-dogs aren't family dogs and/or kid friendly.
