Why do people recolour drawings from animation source and post them on da this person has stolen and recoloured drawings by catwhohas14tails and beauty Jenna I know these people no longer use animation source but this person shouldn't be stealing their art it's really badly recoloured too http://hayleycook.deviantart.com

It's nothing new unfortunately. This person was on here previous to dA I believe, and was permanently banned pretty fast for stealing and refusing to stop.

Usually thieves do this in order to get the same positive attention and "fame" the original artists receive. Also because they're not confident enough in their own abilities, or too lazy to bother trying.

Ok wasn't she the girl who kept making new accounts in different names but it was obviously the same person and also it's just a waste of time recolouring other people's art cause she's gonna get banned eventually lol especially since she is stealing from someone so well known

She's gaining absolutely nothing from stealing, especially since it's obvious she's recoloring. It's not even GOOD recoloring. All I can do is laugh seeing she's taking mine now. So immature. I can only hope one days she'll come to her senses.

Even if this Deviant Art user is taking drawings from here, a rant really isn't necessary since it isn't a site problem. The issue itself is Deviant Art's problem to deal with. If they will at all, because they tend to not care.

I've always felt that this site should disable right-clicking on the fan content for this very reason. Steet has been making an effort to improve the overall security of the site as of late, so perhaps he can implement a security feature to the fan content as well. I know that people can take a screenshot of the page, or take a picture with a camera, but it's better than nothing. The "security' that's current in place is just a text box reminding people that the artwork belongs to the uploader. A thief won't care about a warning, or may not even notice the warning.

But that being said, I agree with Draco. It's not uncommon for kids (although some adults are thieves as well) to take a drawing and edit it to their liking.

Yeah that's true she must have too much time on her hands and is probably a kid since she is being very obvious and an adult would atleast recolour it properly, because you can still see some of the original image in her recoloured drawings lol she probably knows da staff don't do much for thieves so she is taking advantage of it

If the original creator of the art files an official DMCA takedown notice, it is a legally binding form so the staff have no choice but to remove the stolen work by law. Unfortunately it's the only real way to get any of it taken down. Just reporting it normally is useless because, like it's been said, the dA staff are idiots and the site's system is so completely broken is not even funny.

I'll have to look and see if there is a tutorial here on the forums yet on how to fill one out, and make one for members if not. Better to at least have the information more accessible around here for those that may need to find it for use on other sites. The one on dA was relatively straight forward and easy to fill out, but there are already tutorials on that on that site so I don't need to make that one. I may just link to it for reference.
