Hi guys and gals, Just a little note to let you know that I’m near finished with the first volume of A History of Disney Television Animation, volume I. This volume has its focus on the first decade of the division, covering the origins of the studio, the people who were there and of course the development history of the shows. The biggest chapter will cover the complete development and production of TaleSpin (due to the rich source of documents on that show), but there is a small snag… To include artwork in the book, I need to license the artwork from Disney. This is a very expensive process ($300 per image) and the publisher, nor I can cover those costs. So I put up a Kickstarter to get some support. There are a few rewards that might be interesting, like storyboard comparisons of a few TaleSpin episodes and from other shows and of course the book itself. All help is welcome. the more we collect, the more artwork that can be included. For example: I tracked down some plane designs that were more steampunk than what would end up on the screen and more. I also intend to include the full series of pitch artwork. Please check the blog ( http://www.dtacentral.com) and the Kickstarter at http://kck.st/1WRcqGd-Tim

Thanks for the video, Tim. This is the documentary I was talking about that Laura wouldn't tape trade with me. Now I know why, it's six minutes long.
The highlights of the video was Kit surfing on the airfoil with the pants look and also a version of Kit I have never seen before: One with a white baseball cap and a flyer's pin on the sweater.
Anyhow; I might look into getting a Paypal account or do something about donating about $500 CDN for all the trimmings, because I'm already liking what I see.
I also want to say I'm sorry for not being around the past four months or so due to being in the hospital and almost dying from a serious skin infection in my groin. I have already went through details of it on Live Journal, but let's just say; I'm still alive. I'm much better and hoping to return to full work in May. I'm currently working on the Plunder and Lightning Transcripts, and that also includes blending the syndication version and movie versions together. I have 75% of them completed already. The additional commentary on the Plunder and Lightning re-rant is coming along nicely as well. Thanks to Part II; I have found at least 66 edits now, and 151 edits for the whole pilot.

Anytime! I've been sitting on it for a while, because I wanted the permission from the owner before doing anything with it. I'm glad I finally got to share it! From what I read, she was telling people that she had a whole collection, but my sources *cough* said there were no such thing as multiple tapes. This was the one that went on the air and all Laura's screenshots came from this one. Wow, $500 CDN?!? That would be awesome. I'll see if I can include something exclusive for you. For that price, there can be an extra with the trimmings. Send me a note on [email protected] and we can discuss the details. But I am afraid that Kickstarter won't take Paypal. You can always use the Indiegogo, but I kinda of prefer the Kickstarter, because that campaign really needs to get to its goal to succeed. Maybe you can get a of those pre-paid VISA or Mastercard? That saves you the hassle of setting up the Paypal account. But don't mind my babbling. I'm glad that you want to support the campaign and you are free to do so any way you like. Thank you! I'm really glad you're doing better now. Keep it up! I was wondering why it was so quiet on the forum! Good that you mention your LiveJournal! I have some catching up to do. I just reread the WDTAJ post and I'm still amazed on the research you did. I had the chance to talk to Ritsuko Notani last year and I'm getting through to a few other WDTAJ key players to hear their story.

I had the chance to talk to Ritsuko Notani last year and I'm getting through to a few other WDTAJ key players to hear their story. Well, I'm looking forward to that too. To be fair, much of the research I found is from multiple sources closer to the research than I was. Although a lot of the credits I compiled for TaleSpin's WDTAJ was also from multiple Japanese websites and it took some weeding out in order to figure out what the ten people who were credited by Disney on the credits. I was amazed at what I found from Yukio Okazaki alone. Anyhow; I hope to finish the transcript for Plunder and Lightning tomorrow and get the additional commentary done with on Tuesday. By the way; after watching Part Two and the very first thirty seconds of both the movie and syndication version, I can see why Disney demanded 20 retakes. That scene in the movie version was foggier, cloudier and the backgrounds looked unpolished and unfinished compared to the syndication. That set the tone for the rest of the act as I found 66 plus edits in that act alone. Amazing enough; the "Home Is Where The Heart Is" was the most flawless scene in the entire film, and they cut that out in syndication. Anyhow; I'll see what I can do about making that donation.

OMG! :O I'm really sorry ya had to come through this, but I'm glad you're coming back to health now and I'll check out your LiveJournal, when I'll get some time. I'm also glad of the lil' better quality of the promo animation, especially the moments with Mad Dog and his trying to get the red box. I wonder who was going to be the voice actor for this whiny Air Pirate before Charlie Adler did his performance...

THNX for the info, if comes to the way of giving money to the Kickstarter project, Aegis. I'll try to support it as best as I can.

The campaign is a bit slacking, so I decided to release the storyboard comparison reels when certain goals are met. I'm at 37% right now, but when we make 40% (270 euro to go!) I will release the complete "I Only Have Ice For You". When the campaign reaches 6.500 euro, I'll release the New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh pilot and when it reaches 8.500 euro, I'll release another TaleSpin episode. There might be some Rescue Rangers comparisons after that. Let's get into high gear! (edit: changed the order and goals to match the Kickstarter update)
