I found a cool article on how the film Balto is actually inappropiate. If you think about. The whole film is about trying to get the girl. You'll find out more right here.

Balto is not an inappropriate film for kids (don't let people brain wash you, be rational)... Whoever wrote that article might as well say that every other film that involves two characters falling in love is wrong. And let's face it, most films consist of two characters falling in love. ...Their argument is making my brain hurt. :x

The whole film doesn't revolve around Balto "getting the girl". That's a ridiculous idea. Balto just wants to be accepted by others and dreams of pulling a sled. When it comes to Jenna, she's his love interested, and his motivation to go out and find Steele and his team to save Rosie and the other children.

I don't know that this should have been posted on here due to the sexual nature of the article.

I completely agree with Mighty on this. I cannot believe you're getting ideas for topics from freaking Buzzfeed articles. Buzzfeed is an internet publishing company run by a bunch of smug California hipsters who have a generally very twisted view of things, or who spend way too much time trying to be funny, snarky, and relevant. And quite often, they fail miserably.

By the conditions discussed in the linked article, every single animated movie or television series which has any romantic connection or affiliation, or conflict between a protagonist and antagonist should be banned, removed and openly castigated. Which is patently ridiculous.

The movie has a romantic and also a "hero-villain" element because it fleshes out the true story which it is LOOSELY based upon. But it is much, much more than the romantic story or the hero-villain thing.

Seriously guys... the article is meant to be funny not a serious in depth analysis of the film. Let's face it, Balto didn't exactly choose the right moment to ask Jenna out. The girls I know don't find dying children to be part of a romantic moment...

I don't think it matters if it's a joke (I hate these "it's only a joke things). The article is rubbish, and it shouldn't have been posted on here due to its sexual nature.

Rather hard to take much of anything serious when it comes from Buzzfeed.

But regardless of how it was intended to be taken, it was still out of character for Balto Source and a dig at the movie. And the OP here obviously presumed it was a "serious in depth analysis of the film", because he said:

It's a pretty well-established fact that the Balto movie's primary target audience is children. To then take some obscure sarcastic, low-brow article, loaded with blatant sexual trash talk, and post it HERE as a presumably serious analysis of why Balto "is actually inappropriate [for children]" is foolish. And disrespectful.

It's a smack in the face to Balto fans, to the characters, the story...and to the production itself.

Well, take it easy mang. Maybe he didn't knew about that site's past and he just posted the article in here.
We all do mistakes sometimes, i'd say. : -)
However, this thread should be locked,IMO. Since there isn't anything to discuss about this subject.

I am not upset, DeLorean. I'm just pointing out what I see as the facts, and offering my opinions as a contribution. And yes, this thread should be locked. In fact, it would be even more preferable for it to just be deleted entirely.

Yeah, I know you weren't upset.
Well, since there isn't anything to discuss, this is my last post in this topic i don't wanna create unnecessary posts for nothing.
Cheers!

So where are the mods anyway? Surely they should be deciding if a thread is appropriate or not rather than leaving it to regular users to discuss? Or do we take it from their silence that they see no problem with this?

It will take a formal report, I am sure. Otherwise, monitoring activity on the forum is rather spotty, unfortunately. Personally, I have no problems with the mods themselves, but with the insufficient staffing. But the webmaster is pretty set in his ways on that, so...
