I was able to get in contact with Simon Wells, the director of the first Balto movie, and he said he would be happy to do an email interview for Balto Source. This is now the opportunity for us fans to ask him questions about the movie. You can also ask him about his other animated films which include An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story, The Prince of Egypt, and Mars Needs Moms.

Just remember that personal questions and hateful comments will not be accepted. You have until Saturday, 25th July (9pm PDT) to post your question(s) on in the forum, so get asking!

1. What breed of dog is Dixie? Many fans speculate that she's a Pomeranian.

2. Was Steele intended to be an Alaskan Malamute? Many say that he's a Siberian Husky since his eyes are blue, but a Amblimation video on YouTube shows a picture of Alaskan Malamutes, then shows production drawings of Steele.

I would be gratified to throw a few relevant questions his way:

1. what sort of research did you do concerning 1925 Nome, especially in its appearance and form, versus modern Nome?

2. why did you not take into account the other teams that took part in the real serum run?

3. why did you not include any historical names and personages (either human or canine)...like Leonhard Seppala, or Gunnar Kaasen, or Curtis Welch, or Emily Morgan, or Togo, or Fritz, or Scotty, or Blackie, etc.?

4. what was the purpose of reimagining Balto as a wolfdog instead of the real purebred Siberian Husky that he was? And why the brown and gray instead of the black and white coloration?

To make things cleaner and easier to manage, I've created a dedicated page on the site!

http://www.animationsource.org/balto/en ... &nump=8497

Hopefully he can create an account and reply the questions directly there. This should make it easier to check if there are duplicate questions (I can already see some duplicates here), and he'd be able to answer them progressively!
If he can't, then at least it will be easier to manage for us.

So please create your questions there! (including the ones you've posted here)
