James Horner, the composer for many famous film scores including Balto, died this Monday when personal plane crashed in the Southern California Los Padres National Forest. He was the pilot and sole casualty of this crash.

My thoughts are with Mr. Horner's family in this difficult time. For many of us he will live on in his iconic work from Titanic to Braveheart to our beloved Balto.

Unfortunately they've confirmed it was James flying the plane. RIP James. 61 is still way too soon. This really sucks!!

I updated the first post with this link. It's a tragic end for a talented man. My thoughts are with Mr. Horner's family and friends.

Yeah it was just such a shock to read the news. This is one of many reasons I absolutely hate and detest flying unless I have no other way of getting somewhere. Be it commercial or private.

Anyways that being said how ironic and sad is it that this is just a few months shy of 20 years for one of his greatest scores? It's a bit of a haunting fact if you ask me....

I never heard of James Horner before your post but after looking at his works, it just brings sadness and I hope that his talent and vision will help guide others in creating masterpieces like those performed by himself.

It's always sad when someone dies, both for the person who passed on and all the opportunities they lost, and for those left behind as they face a future without everything that person could have given.
