Since this is about animation, why not mention our picks for the best and worst animated movies (from all countries of course). Maybe mention as many as you want for each category, but be sure to write opinions for your choices if you want to explain why your choices are good or bad.
You can change your opinions at any time, OK?
Go for it!

Best:
- The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (very well done! Much of the original cast returned, beautiful animation, one of the best Disney sequels)
- Rescuers Down Under (the first of the Disney sequels; very nice and well animated. Heck, it debuted in the theaters! One of the best Disney sequels)
- Aladdin and the King of Thieves (songs sucked, the animation was a mix of TV and movie-like, but the story made up for that! The end of the Aladdin trilogy was brillantly done!)

Worst:
- The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue (plain evil! The worst of the worst!)
- The Lion King 1.5 (It was not that funny IMO, but well animated though)
- The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea (the story was very predictable; terrible)
- Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True (not for this sequel! LOL. One of the worst sequels by Disney)
- Tarzan and Jane (Why Disney, why? Badly animated, bad voice cast, and the stories . . . . equally as bad as Cinderella 2)
- Any of the Land Before Time sequels (don't mess with a good thing! The voices change in every movie, the stories make no real sense, and the dinos never seem to grow up! OMG . . . make it stop)

Any other lists? Comments?

Ah...interesting :) Well, I have seen a lot of sequels...

Best:

- The lion king 1 1/2 (or 3) : To me, this is the best DTV sequel,
because it has got the best animation, nearly as well animated as the
original, and it's really, really funny. In fact, I'm probably putting
it here because they didn't make a sequel, but a parody, and it was a
very good idea and very well done IMO.

I didn't find TLK 2 so great, to me the animation was average even for
a DTV sequel, I didn't like the songs and Kiara is just as annoying as
Aleu. Although it's still one of the only good DTV sequels.

- Balto 3 : You already know the reasons...Read my review.
- Mulan 2 : It's not great, but still one of the best too. Read my
review on these forums.

You'll see that the best ones IMO are the ones that came out in
2004...So I believe they are making better and better.
I also could have put the sequel to the Rescuers, but it's the only
non-DTV sequel that Disney made, so it would be unfair to compare it
with the DTV which hasn't the same budget. Or I would surely add
Fievel Goes to West, probably one of the best sequels to an animated
film ever made, and simply one of the greatest.

Worse:

- Cinderella 2 : should I have to explain? How could they just kill a
classic like this with such a sequel, the animation wasn't so bad but
everything else...yuck.

- Jungle Book 2 : HORRIBLE. THE WORSE sequel IMO, and it's not even a
DTV one!!! It's simple : take all the scenes in the original, and make
them into a garbage. Forget about the story, there's none. Just a
succession of singing and completly uninteresting and boring scenes. I
couldn't even watch it until the end. Even the animation wasn't good
to me, because it was released in theaters and it really didn't
deserve it.

- Mickey & The three musketeers : Arggh...Well, not all DTV sequels
made in 2004 are good...How can they sell something like this, when
it's no better or even worse that the classical disney cartoons from
the 60' which have always been free. The singing is simply horrible,
the characters are too much exagerated (they made Donald into a real
coward...Minnie is just good to be killed, and the others weren't
better), well it's crap. I didn't watch it to the end as well.

I haven't seen NIMH 2, and from what I've heard of it, I definitely
won't....

Well, among others, I also watched :

- Aladdin and the king of thieves (one of the worse animated, but as
you said the story was good. They should remake it with a real
budget...)

- the sequel to Atlantis (really bad animated, but good story as well)

- LBT 9 (...horrible. Only good for 3-years old. Just kill that stupid
fish.)

- LBT 10 (believe me or not, but this one was good, all the contrary
to the 9 : fairly well animated, good 3D effects, with a good story.
So this make me thinks that all LBT sequels aren't probably at the
same level.)

- Bartok the magnificent (well not really a sequel, but it was
intended to be one for Anastasia. Good animation, good story, funny,
not great but good. Saw it on TV this christmas.)

- Pocahontas 2 (nothing especially bad or good, except the story,
completly illogical to the original.)

- Hunchback 2 (one of the first DTV sequel I saw, I thought it was
good to see it once but that's all. Absolutely nothing to be compared
with the original, of course)

And of course Balto 2, which I would put in the average or slightly
higher.

My top worst dtvs are these (in no specific order):
LBT 2-however many they've made
An American Tail 3-4
ADGTH 2 and All Dogs Christmas Carol
Lady and the Tramp 2
Little Mermaid 2
Return of Jafar

I know there's more, but my mind has gone black atm.

I agree, some of them are pretty ok, but that's it. I've only seen the Journey Through the Mists (which was okay but not the best) and the Saurus Rock one (it's so stupid . . .).

The Invasion of the Tinysauruses sequel (number 11 or 12) is already out in the US (actually, it comes out on Tuesday but I saw a VHS copy of it at a WalMart). That is sad . . . .

I forgot Fievel Goes West! I love that movie! Definitely a Best! The next American Tail movies were just unnecessary IMO.

Note that I forgot some of the other sequels on my list; I haven't seen them all (My mom saw Atlantis 2, but she fell asleep during it. Guess it wasn't that good, but I might watch it for cheap though), but there are some that are not worth seeing (like TSofN 2).

Here's a couple more for the Best sequels list:
- Balto 2: Wolf Quest (I liked it enough to put it on the Best list! Not the best sequel ever, but it doesn't belong with the worst, trust me!)
- Return to Neverland (AKA Peter Pan 2 - It was OK, but the "I'll Try" song was the best in it. The animation was good quality and the voices were not too shabby either. I was about to put this on the Worst list, but this wasn't that bad!)
BTW steet, Return to Neverland and The Jungle Book 2 weren't DTVs; they debuted in theaters first.

Fortunately, I haven't seen TJB2 yet, so I can't judge it even though I've heard it was pretty bad. I might watch it once for the heck of it.

Later!

I know there's more, but my mind has gone black atm.

I think Lady and the Tramp 2 was done very well. It started 8 months after the first movie. It brought back characters, memories, and scenes.

Anywho, here are mine:
Best:
*Lion King 2: Simba's Pride: Took right off after the film, brought back characters, good animation, and was just good!
*Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure: Brought back characters, has good animation, has a good storyline

Worst:
*Balto 2: Wolf Quest: Where are all the characters!? Why are the character different? The animation isn't that great, why is it about wolves, when it doesn't make sense when Balto is based on a true story and wolves have norelation whate so ever in anything of Balto other than he is related so that ruined it, it sucked
*Jungle Book 2: Pointless, bad animation, that tiger guy died, right?:P
*101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure: Even though it has a great story line and characters, it was kind of stupid to be a sequal. The animation was okay, and they didn't really need it. They let Cruella out of jail and left those other 2 idiots in jail, which was kinda stupid. Thunderbolt has nothing to do with the dalmatian other than he is their faviroite star, the story should've just ended at the end of the 1st. This could've been an origional movie itself.

The first movie was released in the 1950s.
Plus, some characters changed, like Lady's puppy clones. Their names were different in the sequel than what they were originally named (even though their names weren't in the original movie).

Best:
Lady and the Tramp 2 was an okay sequel. The songs were well sung (that surprised me), the animation was stunning, but the story and how dumb some of the characters were just surprised me the most (mainly the fact that the junkyard dogs couldn't see that Scamp was the spitting image of the Tramp AKA his Daddykins . . . OMG) That was it's weak point: the story. But at least the spaghetti scene made a return (but with young pups instead)!

Worst:
101 Dalamatians 2: Patch's London Adventure:
What adventure? I thought the animation was okay but the story made me want to barf. Patch got dumbed down for this movie. Thank goodness it was a DTV and not a theatrical release (or else it would bomb like Jungle Book 2 :P ). It was more bad than good if you ask me.

BEST

Lion King 1 1/2 I have to say I enjoyed the backgrounds and how they went behind the scenes to tell you all about it.

Lion King 2 Simba's Pride: It was a very good sequel. Kira and Kovu were a really nice touch and I love how they made it kinda like the different cultures of the lions same as the people.

Balto 3 Wings of Change: Of course Balto 3 because I saw it and I said to myself, "Now that's a sequel". It's animation and character drawings were much better than the 2nd.

WORST

I don't know maybe.....

Some of you say the Little Mermaid 2 Return to the Sea but actually I enjoyed it because it was predictable it was the daughter that wanted life under the sea and the mother that wanted life on land I thought it was nice to see that.

Also Mulan 2 I haven't seen yet but I am wishing to. I really want to see how the story turns out.

I'll get back to you on the Worst....

Favorite quote from TLK2:
"Them? Us? Look at them; they are us. What difference do you see?"
-Kiara

That could be used for a lot of sequels that are out there, you know!

Don't worry about adding on to your lists; I do it all the time!

Well,I really have to say I like the LBT movies. I dont know why everyone else doesnt. :? I know the voices change and the kids dont grow up, but you have to remember, movies like that and balto are supposed to be directed towards kids, remember people?? I really liked the LBT Great Longneck Migration, it was good!! I think it is the point of each movie to teach kids different morals. Also did you ever notice there are always new friends but the old ones stay? :?: They are good lessons for kids. :) I think that Balto should make more movies.... :!: but I would rather it be a TV show. :P They could have all the characters that way :!: :!: ....and obvioulsy as universal likes to do.... they can add new ones. I think it would be somethign to enjoy. :D ~~~~Love Nicolette Little

You have a point there, NicoletteWolf. Lessons and morals? Bah! I do admit that teaching kids lessons about life and everything is good, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.
Nice opinions though!
The old ones stay because they are the characters that the viewers are probably more familiar with (unlike new characters that only appear majorly for one film; more than one . . . . then that may be a good character to work with).

Back to business! :D

A new addition to the Worst list:
- The Return of Jafar (And to think Disney likes to release some of their early DTV sequels now with the SE treatment?! *faints* The animation: horrible. The story: unfortunately very predictable. The voices: . . . . not too bad exception with the Genie! No Robin Williams! Thank goodness he returned for King of Thieves! The songs were the worst of all. Sappy pieces of crap! The thing is it was obvious that this was going to happen since the end of the original movie! I think it could have been much better with Robin Williams and more funny in it! My two cents)

Later days . . . . .

You can also add that The return of Jafar was the first DTV sequel ever made. Too bad it wasn't an example for the others.

Thanks for pointing that out, Steet.
(Actually you could say it was an example for the others: How bad most of their sequels will be!)

Dumb? I didn't think the characters where dumb. I liked the characters. Actually, I didn't like them, I LOVED them! They're designs are great, and they have great charactistics. I love the way they did Buster. His character's looks are fnatastic. I also love hwo they did Angel. I don't know if she's related to Peg or not, but sometimes I think so, since she looks so much like her.
