Well...Amblimation disappeared immediately after the release of Balto. (not to say before...) In fact, Spielberg planned to make Dreamworks in 1994 I believe. I know that a lot of the staff from Amblimation went to Dreamworks, but not all.
I have no idea where they are now...But Amblimation doesn't exists anymore. Amblin Entertainment still does, though (they've made War of the worlds recently, for example) But they only make live films. (And maybe not for long, since Dreamworks has been purchased very recently by Paramount...)
This whole Dreamworks thing could also be another reason why Balto got so poor advertising when it was released in theaters, because neither Universal or Amblimation knew who was in charge of advertising and supporting it.

The guy who animated the whitewolf scene is/was the head animator for Dreamworks.

Oh, that's interesting, I didn't know that! Well I doubt he would be animated anything himself now, since it's all 3D, but well.

Sorry to hear this studio is no longer fully in operation and has split... I know that Don Bluth worked with them for a few of his classics, and I'm a fan of his films (Land before Time, An American Tail etc.). I didn't know that Amblimation did Balto (more accurately, I forgot). I think they did a lot of wonderful work then and it shows with Balto's high quality. Don Bluth's early films were in a way rivals to Disney in quality. And appropriately (on the back of the VHS I think?) I saw a reviewer say for Balto that it rivals Disney in quality animation. Its a shame. I don't think theres many animated films today that can come to the standard of these great films.

I like the Don Bluth films very much, too.
I would even say that Disney itself can't get back to the quality of their animated films from the last century... :?
But well, now that they are classics, they won't be ever forgotten (the same doesn't applies for Balto unfortunately...)
