I'm not sure if any of are familiar with the original version of this simple and hilarious pencil and paper party-type game. You don't necessarily have to know the people you play with to get anything right. It's just something very entertaining and fun. It's been a while since I last played the real game, and I miss it a little. XD I remember how it's played though. There's not a lot in getting into the swing of the game. It's easy to learn!

The way to score points is to guess correctly on who answered what to a scenario the Reader picks. On the original version, people write their clever, funny, or just plain honest answers (or any or all of the above) on slips of paper and handed them all to the Reader.

Since this is a forum, to whoever is Reader we could send out answers to him or her by PM! Or email or through IM, whichever way you prefer. Then, he or she could repeat the scenario picked and copy/paste up to the answers from everyone else. (Let the minimum be five. Maybe the maximum can be ten to fifteen per round? Does that seem fair to the rest of you?)

Someone is allowed to guess any but their own answer. Either the Reader or someone else replies to the guesser on whether or not it is correct. If the guesser is right, then he or she scores a point and gets to guess again, while the person whose answer was picked is out until there's someone else who volunteers to be the Reader for the next round.

If anyone is late into a round, they can join in if the majority of everyone that participates haven't been called out already that isn't over fifteen. We can be flexible, right?

Whoever is the Reader isn't supposed to write down his or her guess because he or she will know everyone else's. This is also why the Reader doesn't participate when it's guessing time. It wouldn't be a fun game otherwise. (You'd be fine on choosing to say if a guess someone makes is right or wrong if you pick to be the Reader, but just don't give out any answers.)

Here's an example of a scenario that was read in a round at an old meetup some years back, with the actual original version of The Game of Things.

The scenario was this: What not to do when riding an airplane.

Some of the responses I still remember were drink the blue water, yell "Hi, Jack!", and light your shoes on fire. I wrote, "watch the movie Airplane!" XD

The rounds on who guesses what could go fairly quickly, and in here the points don't matter, as what Drew Carey would say on Whose Line is it Anyway? It's all about the fun and laughs of the whole thing!

As long as it's not violating forum rules or not offending anybody, the scenario and responses can be anything. Scenarios can be as common as "Things to do at the mall" to others like "What you'd want to do if you had a time travel machine" or "What would you do if you got to be your favorite animal?" Keep in mind; there's no wrong reply. The responses you decide to send via PM can be almost anything!

So, how about it? Anyone want to give this a try? :D

I'll be the Reader to start the first round... Scenario: Something you'd like to do if you were in the Lion King universe!

I'll wait for at least five PM answers and then post them up as soon as I possibly can. To remember when guessing: if your answer is picked, you're out of the round until the next scenario is posted. If you don't guess one correctly, let someone else go!

One more thing to know is this: one answer per person, please. :)
